the emanuel african methodist episcopal church in charleston, south carolina last night. police arrested the suspect about 300 miles away in shelby, north carolina after a 14 hour manhunt. 21-year-old dylann storm roof has waved extradition and is on the way back to south carolina. federal and state officials are investigating the rampage as a hate crime. six men and three women were killed. one of the people was the church pastor. the uncle says the father gave the suspect a gun as a birthday present. marlie hall reports. >> reporter: 21-year-old dylann roof boarded a plane bound for south carolina where he will face a judge. he was arrested during a traffic stop thursday for the shooting deaths of nine people during a prayer service inside a historic black church in charleston, south carolina. >> he was cooperative with the officer who stopped him. we don't have any reason to believe there was anybody else involved. >> reporter: police say surveillance images show roof entered the emanuel ame church last night. he sat in on a prayer meeting for an hour. a law enforcemen
