ellison barber is in bowie -- murder. ellison barber is in bowie with concerned residents. >> reporter: police know people in this community are worried about a specific area. earlier we spoke with the chief of police in bowie john nesky and asked him about that. >> a lot of the complaints stem from a very small number of houses in the general area. >> reporter: the city of bowie, maryland, isn't known for its high crime rate. last year there was only one murder, a lot less than the national average, but in the past two weeks center -- there have been two shootings. one on june 4th left davonte king dead and the most repeat a few blocks from where king was murdered sending one man to the hospital in serious condition. >> this is really unsettling. >> reporter: residents fear the two are connected and they're worried this type of violence is coming out of a specific part of town. >> a lot of drugs going on on sixth street. >> reporter: police started hearing about these concerns in january. >> we have a lot of people hangi

ellison barber has the details of what went wrong that night. >> reporter: police say a fit of jealous drove ivan hoff to repeatedly stab hall last july. now he faces a lifetime behind bars. prosecutors say ivanhoff maliciously premed tadded the murder of 22-year-old brian -- premeditated the murder of 22- year-old bryan hall showing the jury testimony of an eyewitness and this surveillance video. they say it shows ivanhoff in white shorts coming into his mom's house the morning of the stabbing and then leaving carrying a trash bag of his bloody clothes. he was at a party with a woman he was involved with when she started to get texts from hall. it didn't sit well with ivanhoff and he began arguing with hall over texts. they decided to meet up around 2 a.m. ivanhoff, hall and the woman went to a gaithersburg park. it didn't take long for the fight to escalate and ivanhoff pulled aknife and attacked hall. each stick represents one of the 15 stab marks left on hall's face and neck. the state's torn said the jury made the right -- attorney said the jury made the right call finding ivanhof

our ellison barber is live at littlemore church where milton is remembered. >> reporter: earlier today a steady stream of people were coming in and out of this church here for the viewing of a young woman they lost way too soon. couns people came to living word church for the wake of charnice milton. they began streaming into the church around 6 p.m. less than a day after police released surveillance video showing 14 people of interest. in it six dirt bikes and one a four wheeler zipped by. two people are riding each one. the video is grainy, but police hope someone will recognize any of the 14 people or one of the bikes. milton was on her way home from work last wednesday when she was struck by a stray bullet. whoever shot her didn't stick around. police found milton lying on the side of good hope road. >> bullet shot bullet holes in her chest. her arm dangled off the bed. >> reporter: and you knew '. >> she was out -- and you knew. >> she was out of there. >> reporter: an unexpected and horrific end to a young reporter's life. >> what does 1 feel but a sense of sadness and emptiness

ellison barber is at that scene now with the latest from potomac, maryland. ellison? >> reporter: when we put up here, the first thing i heard was a park police helicopter flying in the air. we don't hear that anymore because most of the crews have left the scene because the sun is starting to set. they'll be back at sunrise looking for this person, but this was a very active search that involved multiple agencies, montgomery fire and rescue, montgomery county and fairfax police and the u.s. park police looking on land, sea and in the water. one thing they were using the helicopter which was the most noticeable thing. we saw a lot of people going out to look in boats in full diving gear and there were police officers using thermal energy to potentially look for a body along the shore. what we know now is there were two men in their early 20s swimming in the river. only one of them made it out. a spokesperson for the fire and rescue in montgomery county told me one of the men was swimming near the shore. so he got out on his own. the other man was further out when he s

ellison barber joins us live in northwest d.c. with the story. >> reporter: around 9:30 last night police responded to this corner of t street, the reports of a quadruple stabbing that left one woman dead. it has some concerned violence is increasing. a quiet apartment building steps away from the bustle of 14th and u street was covered in crime tape surrounded by police lights sunday night. d.c. police responded to the building around 9:30 and found four people suffering from stab wounds. three of the victims were taken to the hospital. one now is identified as 64- year-old santos ventura later died. manuel antonio ramos was arrested and charged with first degree murder. neighbors say ramos and ventura were married and lived in an apartment on e thsecond floor. this stabbing wasn't the on one in d.c. in china town four people were stabbed after an argument inside this walgreen's spilled outside. the incident report says the suspect went to his car, came back with a of new, stabbed the -- with a knife, stabbed the four people he w
