meteorologist kathy orr is outside on the cbs3 sky deck with the first look at that weekend forecast. kathy? >> reporter: can't wait, chris. you know what, right now, we have some clouds moving in to the region but don't despair the forecast still looks good for the weekend. let's start off with the temperatures right now in philadelphia we're still holding on to skate. it is 71 in reading. 68 in allentown and you can see in millville 61 degrees. down the shore with that ocean water at about 60 it's still mild. temperatures haven't budged much today. ocean city 64. 58 in sea isle. pack a jacket at rehoboth beach delaware on the boards only 59 degrees. now, this is what we're looking a few spotty showers through the lehigh valley right now and to the west so we could see a few sprinkles overnight. that is going to encounter dry air. come tomorrow morning we'll have some clouds temperatures in the upper 50s lower 60s. that's what we'll wake up to and then during the day morning

meteorologist kathy orr is live in stone harbor for this weeks orr at the shore, hi there, kathy. >> you would not believe how crowded it is. many schools just got out today but we have families here that are on vacation, some schools got out last week and it is pack here at the mini golf, at club 18 mini golf, high atop the city of stone harbor and you can sea water tower there in our view. the beach beyond that. beach is not too crowded but everything in town is and we are getting held i for a great weekend. maybe not a total, ten but it is going to be fairly decent from the city to the shore. let's talk about it and show you storm scan three. this evening will be pretty nice. we have a few showers that are to our west but i think mostly it will fade as we move on through the evening period. you can see as we, pan down, towards memphis and into oklahoma to see that swirl, that is the remnants of the old tropical storm bill that will continue to move toward the north and the east and impact our weather unfortunately by fathers day weekend. right now in philadelphia 72. allentown 68.

lets get out to meteorologist kathy orr. it has been a busy day in the weather center. we have a lot of element working to day. >> we do we have a lot of instability in the atmosphere ahead of the cold front heat and humidity the atmosphere is prime, like a sponge, so when that front comes through it will ring itself out. any storms, or showers are going to come down pretty hard. drenching rain expect. take a look at storm scan three you can see the line that we're talking about that is forming through lehigh valley and heading in our northern/northern suburbs and there are a few spotty downpours out there, one in montgomery county as we zoom in, we can see this one with heavy rain, and that is moving toward the south east, along 276, and also, in wyndmoor a heavy shower moving closer to the city and in south jersey near union mill road in burlington county, new jersey, vincentown, heavy rain. so these spotty, storms, and downpours will be coming down as well, but a line, a little bit later this evening. storm reports in estelle manor, upper township, trees and wires do

lets get outside to meteorologist kathy orr live on the cbs-3 sky deck with what has turned out to be a beautiful day. >> much different then yesterday, a good day to clean up across the region. i was surveying damage in south injuries think afternoon and it was difficult to get anywhere between tree removal power lines down, police officers directing traffic and it was a mess. it will continue to be, right through the end of the week as, clean up continues. i want to take you back in time believely to show you what it looked like yesterday at this time. this is storm scan three with the storms moving through. they pulled through like a freight train at 50 miles an hour accelerating over i-95 corridor and you can see right about there how that precipitation bowed, that is a bow echo, a signature of significant wind damage. here's the recap, 5200 lightening strikes during the the storm, 70 to 85 miles an hour gusts most of those hurricane strikes, 75 reports of trees down and power lines down, and those are just the official reports and four funnel cloud reported. right now temperature

for more on that lets check with meteorologist kathy orr live outside on the cbs-3 sky deck where sirens are passing by kathy. >> very busy afternoon out here in center city philadelphia and a column breeze has moved in as well with temperatures falling. first let's talk about bill, the remnants of the old tropical storm bill, they are sitting right now an area of low pressure a depression over texas. right around dallas fort worth. 30 miles an hour wind but dumping a lot of rain. on the track the storm will move up through missouri and into the midwest spreading its rain, heading toward philadelphia area late saturday into sunday. look at rain between three and 5 inches into places like st. louis and louisville, nashville on the southern edge of that and you can see all of that angling to the north and toward the east and they have flash flood watches in the in midwest as well, so bill, will be impacting our weather most likely, on fathers day. we will talk more about that coming up but as far as our immediate future we have a few spotty showers on storm scan three, some in the lehigh v

meteorologist kathy orr tracking those changes in the weather center now kathy? >> we will see a soaking rain you can see a lot of green on the do that lumbar radar screen we do have a warm front that drapes through the midwest towards philadelphia and here it is what's left of bill. you can still see that counter clockwise flow, area of low pressure, the depression mug toward the north and east. and it will continue over the course of the next couple days. locally with a warm front we do have spotty showers across the area, in reading, bucks county and in the northern part of montgomery county with heavy shoushs falling right now in area around pottstown and this is moving toward the southeast, and it should pretty much be dissipateing as it continues on the south easterly track. tomorrow morning, cool temperatures, waking up to temperatures mainly in the 60s. 64 in the ski 67 in allentown, 65 degrees in trenton, over the course of the day, temperatures will be warming up fair al quickly, with some warning fog look at this increasing sunshine by 11:00, we'll be

meteorologist kathy orr is on the cbs-3 sky deck, how sit feeling, kathy. >> we have a big breeze coming through dry wind, so not a lot of humidity but hot wind as well as temperatures soared above 90 degrees for the second day tomorrow our first heat wave of the year. lets look at these high temperatures around the region because they will go higher tomorrow philadelphia 91. ac airport 90. wilmington 87. trenton and allentown in the upper 80's. eighty-nine in the city. millville 86. dover 88. average high is 85 this time of the year. temperatures falling through 80's this evening and stays sunny through sunset and clear skies 79 at 11:00 p.m. but humidity will rise and tomorrow the temperature will as well. that is why a heat advisory goes into effect. it will feel like around 100 degrees most of the day. now we will look at storm scan three. do you see that activity over great lakes. is he rear weather there yesterday, and today that will bring a severe threat to us tomorrow, it is associated with a cold front. that front will bust the heat but create some problems around the delaware

. >>> let's get right over to meteorologist kathy orr whose been tracking these storms all night. kathy, what can we expect as we move through the evening? >> well right now no severe weather but the threat will continue into the overnight a lot of oranges and reds that is heavy rain in excess of about an inch an hour. this is moving toward the northeast and more near baltimore and washington heading toward our northern and western suburb. so definitely not out of the woods yet. you can see through south jersey glassboro vineland some heavy rain this is moving southeast at about 40 miles an hour down the expressway heading toward mullica, mays landing galloway and toward the shore. places we haven't seen the rain just yet. so more rain overnight and some downpours. you can see some of our storm reports poles down in mertz town with wind gusts in excess of 60 miles an hour. top ton wires down. skippack large hail and pottsville in schuylkill unconfirmed funnel cloud another one in berks county. so we'll continue to keep you updated on that. in the meantime overnight scattered showe

meteorologist kathy orr is still tracking more unsettled weather in the area. kathy? >> it is amazing this storm has evolved started off as severe storms with potential tornadoes dangerous hail, damaging winds. now, it's all about the flooding and some pictures we've received have been incredible. this is wind swept torrential rain courtesy our "eyewitness weather" watcher margo steinmann isn't buena voice to and you can see it is coming down in buckets inches of rain have fallen across parts of new jersey and that's how we are counting it tonight on storm scan3 i want to you look at all the yellow and oranges that is rain rates of about an inch an hour earlier today we had about two 3-inches an hour. all those moving toward the northeast. little bit of a break through central delaware another line of rain moving through the chesapeake into the eastern shore of maryland that will be moving through south jersey as well. so heavy rain along the philadelphia i-95 corridor through delaware county even philadelphia county where you see that dark orange. that is very heavy

meteorologist kathy orr is watching it all from the weather center now. kathy? >> there's no doubt about it chris. it will be an official heat wave. yesterday' highs 91. today 91. going well beyond 90 tomorrow. the average high 85 for this time of year. look how quickly temperatures warm. 7ah we're close to 80 degrees. 82 by 9:00 a.m. by 11:00 o'clock we'll make it to 90 drones the humidity will grow as well that's why the national weather service issued a heat advisory that begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. it will feel like it's around 100 degrees when you add the humidity. so this is what it feel like tomorrow morning. in philadelphia around 82. but look by noon it will feel like 101 in the city. the same in wilmington and millville. by 3:00 o'clock, it will feel like it's 104. so dangerous heat tomorrow. then the storms move in. cold front will move in setting off showers and thunderstorms. severe weather through the midwest today. that will be in our future tomorrow. so there is a slight risk of severe weather for most of the area tomorrow we're talking about show

meteorologist kathy orr is here now with more on that. kathy? >> right now as we look at storm scan3, we can see some high clouds moving our way that is associated with a warm front. it doesn't look like much now but complex of some storms developing over iowa an area of low pressure is going to move eastward and it's going to be putting us in a more active pattern over the next couple of days. now, as these storms continue to move eastward we'll see the clouds increase tomorrow and a chance of some scattered showers and thunderstorms. but with this, it is going to be more localized. severe threat mainly through central and southern delaware that is where we have the slight risk of severe weather. some gusty winds some small hail some downpours and even through northern parts of delaware and south jersey this is a marginal risk. so there is a risk of some gusty thunderstorms but a better risk as you head toward the south. we'll talk more about this and the potential for a wet weekend coming up with that seven day forecast. >> all right, kathy, t

meteorologist kathy orr is outside soaking up sun on the cbs-3 sky deck and has more on what we can expect this weekend. >> boy does it feel good, chris. it seems like everyone is out and about getting a jump start on the weekend and why not. it is feeling much more like summer. we have got rid of the clouds and it is uncy and it will stay that way right in the evening hour. high temperatures soared late this afternoon. in allentown pretty decent in the lower 70's. philadelphia is 75. you can see 66 in atlantic city where we have more cloud. coastal low is pushing the the cloud cover back into parts of the burlington county, ocean county and even atlantic county but slowly that is moving away. temperatures responding to sunshine mid 07's in philadelphia, 72 in wilmington. seventy-five in reading. you can see quite warm in the lehigh valley. we have a cold front approaching from the west and as it does, it will bring additional cloud cover tonight and maybe a few spotty showers tomorrow. here's the forecast, we will start off with some clouds tomorrow in philadelphia, and then give way to s

meteorologist kathy orr joining us from the cbs-3 sky deck. temperatures ready to go up. >> right now it is perfect. so after the newscast, try to get outside it is just a beautiful evening. deep blue skies with low humidity. bit of the breeze, but as jessica mentioned it will not stay that way. on storm scan three we have clear skies throughout the region but some clouds up through lehigh valley and poconos where we could see a spotty shower or downpours this evening. possibility of the rumble of thunder. that is once again lehigh valley and poconos. for the rest of us, persistent westerly wind will keep it comfortable in the evening. west wind at ten to 15 miles an hour keeping it warm as well. eighty's through mess of the region and poconos in the lehigh valley we have rain cooled temperatures but that westerly wind is also strong enough to keep a land breeze down the shore so temperatures in philadelphia, sea isle are the same. and that is going to stay that way during the day tomorrow, as well. now temperatures will be falling, through th
