can you tell us -- start here in the mckinney case. hundreds of people rallied yesterday in protest of what took place. can you talk about the -- this officer's actions as he went after this 14-year-old girl? >> yes, and thank you for having me on the show. for me, as i watch officer casebolt, what i see is a bully. i see someone at was totally out of control, that was similarly focused on every african-american youth that he encountered. and then he paid particular attention to this young woman. why you go because she failed to follow his orders. and what we see is what i like to refer to as contempt of cop. when you don't do what an officer says, there's a price to pay. we've seen it over and over. generally, we have seen that price is death. thank goodness no young person lost their life in this incident, but he punished her. he sat on top of her with the full weight of his body to make a point. in it was unnecessary. it was over-the-top, outrageous, and he needs to be fired. aaron: we also see him pulling his gun. he rolls on the g

how did the apology go over in mckinney today? >> well i can tell you that at least from the point of the view from the attorney they certainly welcome sentiments. she was quick to say it doesn't alter the fundamental facts which is the po ten ial violation of the civil rights of the 15-year-old girl. i think people are sympathetic to anyone saying they were in distress at that time. i think a lot of people in this community, at least who were focused on activism around what happened to her want to keep the focus there. the first question in fact lawrence after they started taking questions after they weren't taking questions is whether any other officers who responded to the scene. remember 12 officers responded. whether any other officers responded but were able to behave appropriately at the scene of the pool party. that's one of the questions that was begged by the answer. >> they didn't -- either didn't know the answer to it or couldn't. in your experience with the size of that police department and the geography in question,

if you look at a lot of communities and mckinney is one of them. you'll find that sort of segregation that is often, you know, obviously it's not mandated but it is done by custom, income. just a couple of years ago with the city actually settled a section 8 housing case of discrimination case where by one area of the city didn't want to put section 8 housing within its orders and the area was predominantly white. in a lot of these places in mckinney, in ferguson certainly in baltimore there is a stark racial segregation that encourages or facilitates a certain kind of policing that focuses intently with a lot of resources on the low-income african-americans >>well and not just the policing but if this started in a way we have been lead to believe, that there was a sort of racialized exchange about kids going back to section 8 housing. that's all you need to know as far as how much the community is tolerant of difference. >> what is interesting about that comment and what i've been trying to explore in writing and thinking about it, it very much pu

there's a lot of emotion there in mckinney, texas. cut through the noise, then proceed forward to what needs to be done. >> well here is what we know. it is our intent based on the facts thus far, there was some kind of incident or fight among adults. we then have a second set of adults show up clad in guns badges and uniforms mainly police officers. we have a police officer brutalizing teenagers. we need to be clear on this. it is the police officers conduct at the heart of this legal narrative. in terms of cutting through the noise, what we have to do here is follow what we have laid out in the naacp's report called born suspect. that is to say we have to look at racial profiling. where we see a group of teenagers of color directed to sit on the ground being mishandled curse, being mistreated and white counter parts not getting the same treatment. we see what appears to be racial profiling by assumption. we have to address that. >> it's interesting. we spent a little bit of time looking into this. apparently this officer had done so
