chris christie is no different . a lot of the things he is saying are going to find a receptive audience. one of the weak spots in the obama administration has been foreign policy. given all of that, whether the problem that christie is going to have selling that tough talk is the fact that his foreign policy background is so limited and the times he has left the country like when he went to london he got in trouble by talking about vaccinations and getting off message. what say you about him as a foreign policy candidate? al: it might appeal not just to primary voters but generic election voters if isis continues its horrors, if putin continues to be a thug. they will look for someone with good judgment on that. ronald reagan faced that same issue and it wasn't until the last couple weeks of the campaign he persuaded people i'm not going to be a reckless foreign-policy president. it chris christie gets near that point he is going to offer that reassurance. john: we were talking earlier when he was doing this announc

a speech all about chris christie. the convention apparently had started to run late the night of the chris christie keynote address. and rnc organizers reportedly decided that they would cut that three-minute chris christie biographical video in order to save some time in the schedule. according to dan balz's book, governor christie then threw a tantrum to make sure that his video would play before his speech. according to the book, chris christie himself told the convention staffer, quote, to ask the director -- meaning the person who's actually doing the direction for television of the rnc -- ask the director of the republican convention if he had ever heard anybody say the f-word on live television, because that is what he was about to do if the video did not run. then, reportedly, chris christie said, actually, he wasn't just drop an f-bomb, maybe he wouldn't deliver the speech at all. he would walk if the video didn't run. and so the video ran. and everybody got their three-minute biographical video of chris chri

they took that vetting file they got on chris christie, everything chris christie had given them about himself, all the most damning things about him and anyone connected to him, and the romney folks handed that puffer fish vetting file to reporters. the worst opo dump you can possibly imagine done after the election, apparently as payback against a fellow republican who they hated so much it is almost impossible to overstate. they handed over his vetting file to reporters. and so that is how we learned through the campaign book "double down" that chris christie had been found by the mitt romney campaign to be utterly unsuited for the job of even vice president. because, they said, he was chronically late all the time for everything he was supposed to do. he made unreasonable demands in terms of his own need for luxury hotel rooms and private jets and having a giant entourage and they made sure to point out that he wanted large spreads of food everywhere he went. again, like i said, it was mean. they put out to these reporters how chris christie had a terrible record of running up luxu

i want to get to chris christie real quick. chris christie is running for president. i feel like he's trying to do this macho image. do we think it's important for america to have a macho president? why does it always seem like that that's a thing? >> i don't think -- i think, look, bottom line chris christie's just -- he's a fat italian guy from new jersey so he's going to come off like -- he's going to jiggle his balls when he does his inaugural address. it's -- chris christie really hates the monmouth university poll. and he is polling in eighth place at new hampshire. and he has 4% support. he is not doing much worse in that particular poll in new hampshire than all the other polls. they all have him about 4% or 5% consistently. 4, 6, 5, 5, for new hampshire polls. those numbers are terrible for somebody who is staking their whole presidential appeal on new hampshire. in last poll in new hampshire, chris christie isn't really the story there. he is basically a footnote. the big story in that poll is obviously donald trump. who is not only winning new hampshire but look at the margin. he is winning by a double digit margin. there is only one other person in double digits. and donald trump is double digits ahead of him. that poll put him at 24% and jeb bush at 12%. donald trump doubling the guy in second place. that is a huge lead. actually because it is donald trump it is a huge lead. very classy, beautiful. very, very beautiful. and it's not just in new hampshire. late tonight, the reuters poll ca

take chris christie. he is running on charisma and his personality. he is a charismatic, natural born politician. a two-term state governor. he tends to be a very big crowd pleaser in front of any crowd. a legendary fund-raiser. when he was head of the republican governor's associationering not only seat fundraising record, he also got very unlikely governors elected all over the country including blue states. places like maryland and massachusetts and maine. he did that. he made that happen. and that's the chris christie running for the. republican nomination this year. alongside him, you have the guy who served for 14 years as the governor of the state of texas. 14 years. governed the state through a time when texas grew its population and grew economically while the rest of the country was going through come appear i have thely hard times. he's executive leadership and a long government over a long period of time. plus, he has amazing hair. absolutely top of the line presidential hair. then there is the current governor from the almighty swing stat
