the state keeps working off the old budget as negotiators go back to work in harrisburg. it's believed to be the first time a governor of pennsylvania completely rejected a budget. the announcement came a short time before the state government's fiscal year ended at midnight. republican lawmakers sent the $30.2 billion plan to the democratic governor who rejected it out of hand. the budget does not increase taxes but it doesn't restore education dollars cut four years ago or any of wolf's priorities. the governor said the bill just doesn't work. >> the math doesn't work it's not balance. it doesn't address the challenges that pennsylvanians face. we all know what pennsylvania faces, especially when it comes to education. >> republicans fired back saying he vetoed a budget with no new taxes while calling for $4 billion in new spending. with no new budget pennsylvania state agencies and offices will operate as usual. so will public safety agencies like state prisons and the state police. but billions of dollars in state aid to local school districts will remain in limbo. go

corruption charges against the former mayor of pennsylvania's capitol city. they say former mayor steven read diverted money from the harrisburg authority to fund museum projects under the guys of administrative fees. his arrest came yesterday. current mayor eric, says the civil war museum quote stands as a monument to corruption. he says the city needs to sell off its assets to help pay down harrisburg's debt. >> new jersey state trooper shot and killed in aggressive pig after it threatened people, a dog and some other animals that's according to state police tonight. animal control officers called for help after they tried and failed to remove a 250-pound pig from a property in woodbine, cape may county, on monday. police say the pig attacked a beagle and was trying to break through a fence where a neighbor had other animals. animal control recommended the trooper put the pig down for the safety of the residents and the animals. state police say the pig's owner had been warned about keeping the pig confined. the dog ended up with a laceration to its neck. >

george, what do you think's going on in harrisburg? what's gonna happen? >> well, you know, the governor vetoed the budget, but what we know is that the governor and the legislative leaders met on tuesday or wednesday of this week, right after the governor vetoed the budget. they've agreed to have their senior staffs begin to meet early next week to begin to look at the issues that they're both concerned about, which includes property tax, which includes tax on marcellus shale. so i think that both sides understand. the governor continues to be very popular statewide, so i think both parties understand, both sides understand they've got to make a move. and the governor has offered compromises on the issues that are important to republicans. so i think we'll begin to see progress. >> well, i think if republicans don't hold the line on this -- because i believe what wolf -- his posture was voted 193 to nothing. a lot of democrats voted against the wolf budget. >> in the house? >> in the house. because it was so excessive. so if he compromises and allows pens
