the district prince george's county back into southern maryland southern maryland. the reason being, it's still hot. heat index is still between 100 and 105 even at this evening hour. so right now temperature-wise it's still 93 downtown. it's still 90 in leesburg and 91 in manassas. it's still 91 in frederick and 89 in hagerstown. let's focus on the 93 here in d.c. we'll factor in the humidity, feels like it's 100, feels like it's 102 in leesburg and feels like it's 100 in frederick. so it's still very, very dangerous outside if you have to try to exercise. just wait until morning. 9:30 at night, these are not heat indices. these actual temperatures, still 87 downtown and 85 in hagerstown. that's at night. by 10:00 it's still in the 80s pretty much everywhere. maybe martinsburg dips down to 79 but just a very muggy uncomfortable night. then by morning 10:00 clouds begin to roll in, temperatures still in the 80s and then storms beginning to fire out in the mountains and west of i-81. those storms get a little heavier by noon. already we're 90 by noon, 85 in gaithersb

we also had a pretty strong thunderstorm in southern maryland that dropped more than an inch of rain. as we head into the afternoon, starting to clear things out, but then another little wave of energy moves through and we could see another line of showers develop. here on 9 future cast, keeping things on the lighter side, the green, an indication of light to moderate rainfall. it will push through during the evening commute and then we'll start to see some clearing heading into the overnight hours. but more showers arrive on friday. so if you have plans to hit the beach, lot of folks have the holiday starting tomorrow. it will be a little bit unsettled, especially for the next day, day and a half. then things will start to improve. 77 degrees tomorrow in ocean city. 80 degrees on saturday, with just an isolated thunderstorm possible by that point. and the greater threat looks to be further to the south, so the northern beaches and if you're headed toward lewis, for instance, that would look drier than ocean city. we will have that unsettled weather in the forecast through saturday. i

southern maryland seeing it. even down there, i think another hour, conditions will improve. starting with doppler 9000, a stray shower north and west. the line we had, heavy downpours, only a little bit of lightning. nothing severe, but certainly disruptive to a lot of activity going on. you see d crsm's clearing out. we have a lone shower still in prince george's county, north of upper marlboro. that will be pulling in towards anne arundel, calvert, st. mary's. st. charles looking better. when you get into st. mary's, northern part, prince frederick, these are the heavy downpours we're tracking. dahlgren, east of fredericksburg, all moving off to the southeast at about 25 miles an hour. so looks like it's going to be the heaviest stuff. i know there's been rain ahead of it, but the heaviest stuff, hollywood, 7:38. one lone shower still holding together just north of cross junction, toward northern frederick county. our friends in winchester will have to watch that. that's the only threat i think that we'll have to see for fireworks this evening. right now, 76. hit 85 today

kellye: 10 people hurt after a boat exploded in southern maryland. this was on solomons island around 6:00. the boat was fueling up at the talk when it ignited in a fire. the 10 people on board were rushed to the hospital. none of the injuries were life-threatening. a new overtime rule could mean larger paychecks for up to 5 million americans. tim sweeney looks at who is affected. >> the president says this would be a boost of 5 million salaried employees who don't receive overtime. he said if you put in a hard days work, you deserve fair pay. president obama's plan focuses on salaried employees. often managers and restaurants and retail's doors work more than 40 hours without overtime. the president hopes to change this saying if you work extra hours, you deserve extra pay. >> our laws have to keep pace with the times and i think the change is overdue. >> salaried employees must earn overtime pay if they make less than 23,000 dollars a year right now. this proposed rule doubles it. >> the president should do anything within his power to raise wages
