here to discuss jeffrey lord, a trump supporter, also worked in the reagan white house. and ron christie, former special assistant to president bush. i want to show you both another poll. this is another quinnipiac poll. it shows 79% of african-americans have an unfavorable view or opinion of donald trump. where's the disconnect between these two polls and what we're hearing trump say? >> i think one of the things that people are looking for is authenticity. and when you look at donald trump and he says a lot of african-americans support me, it's not whenevther you like me. it's not how is your leadership going to reform the country in general. we've had african-american unemployment above 10% for his entire presidency. the question becomes not so much a reflection on donald trump, but what is the next president of the united states going to do to make sure that this big, big gap of a lack of job, frankly a lack of sense of future, what are they going to do to address that? >> do you think he is going to address african-american unemployment in this country? >> i think o

. >> joining us now to discuss is jeffrey lord. great to see you, jeffrey. and cnn political commentator and host of the ben ferguson show, ben ferguson. great to see you. let's start with the feud that donald trump for some reason on monday reignited with megyn kelly. all of this started from the first republican debate, then it died down. and then on monday he fired it up again with some tweets. just this morning matt lauer asked donald trump, what is it about megyn kelly that has you so hot and bothered? >> it starts to sound a little bit -- and take this in the right way -- like you're a guy with a schoolyard crush. when we were in elementary school and high school, guys often saying the meanest things about the girls they like the most. >> trust me, matt. there is no crush. during the debate she asked my questions that were totally inappropriate. other people were asked nice questions about jobs, about god, about other things. and she hits me with questions that were totally inappropriate. >> jeffrey, what is donald trump doing? >> well, you know, donal

ana navarro is here and jeffrey lord. good to see you both. ana, they obviously didn't pick up and get you on the phone when they were doing this poll. how do you explain what is going on in florida? >> oh god, chris. it's august. you know how hot it is? we all have heat stroke. that's the only explanation i can come up with. listen, if you look at the poll, first i think donald trump stands alone when it comes to the mad as hell caucus, the mad as hell voters. we are not going to take it anymore. we're fed up with politics as usual. we're fed one the washington dysfunction. remember, there's a bunch of other guys running who are from florida. and they are splitting up the florida vote. i think there's a lot of people who are like me, who say i love marco rubio. i love jeb bush. for me, i've just loved jeb longer. there's a lot of people in my position, who are like, okay, do i vote for jeb or do i vote for marco? you put the two of them together, 11% and 17% and they beat trump. rubio and jeb bush do much better against hillary clinton than d

and jeffrey lord. good morning to both of you. there is no more trump bump ana. this is the real deal. he's on top of the every poll. he is obviously the face of your party's discontent. yes the media is fanning trump's flames a little bit, but that's not all that's going on here. what's your latest take on it? >> i think he has been able to unify the anti-establishment vote. that's why you see the numbers for practically everybody else going down. he has been able to become the guy for that mooumt. i think it sent a very strong message to everybody else running that there is a lot of anger, a lot of frustration, a lot of fear around concern amongst republican voters. >> we have some new poll numbers. there are a lot of polls out this morning, jeffrey. this one is cbs. this one just came out with trump at 24%, jeb bush as the closest, second at 13. the next poll is bloomberg, that's 21%. the third one is fox and it has trump at 26%. how do you explain why he is so far ahead of all the other people? >> well the one thing here these polls are no longer outliarsoutl

jeffrey, two polls putting donald trump at 26%, way ahead of the others. as you know, there are a lot of people who will say just ignore donald trump at the debate. but how can the other candidates ignore the guy with 26% support? >> at this point we keep seeing poll after poll after poll after poll that shows some variation of the same thing, that's ahead, and ahead by a lot, or at least a reasonable sized margin. which says these things are not outliars. these are measuring a real sentiment out there. i think now these candidates are beginning to take him seriously. i think governor bush has sort of come around on that. i saw something today that rubert murdoch sent something out the other week that he should stop embarrassing his friends and the country suddenly said today well we need to be paying attention to what is happening here i think there is something in these numbers. >> anna what about that? there are those who said this is in large part because donald trump is a celebrity, there is huge name recognition. to be fair jeb bush who you are suppo
