. >> well, joining me right now in the flesh, from washington, matt lewis, senior contributor for the daily collar. i'm going to begin with you, matt, what do you think prompted donald trump to give an interview only to chuck todd this sunday morning when there are a bunch of shows to talk to? >> well, i don't know. i will say this. i'm glad to get rid of the phoner. i don't think that it's a good trend that we're seeing. i think that they should require him to show up. i thought it was a very good interview, very interesting interview. donald trump, say what you will about him, he is more than happy to talk to people, and to expound on the issues. and so i think it's a win-win. i think it was a win for nbc news. and i think it's a win for donald trump. he loves buzz, he loves publicity. we're talking about him yet again. >> lynn, i understand you're with us now. what do you make of the fact this was an interview face to face and what do you think he accomplished? >> well, i think a few things. one, it is, as trump himself would say, it's a ratings boost for whoever has him on. my com

also, matt lewis from "the daily caller." really, donald trump has to go back more than 25 years? he's really thrived since 1989. there are a lot of americans who would say that america has that swag ger and sense that reagan comes in and turns the country around. to a lot of folks, what is happening right now, is reminiscent of the late night 1970s. reagan had that slogan but i don't remember reagan harkening back to the 1950s that much. the demographics of america are very different than the 1980s and the challenges that we face economically and internationally are very different. the part about again is a little more doubling. >> dan, what do you think about this lioninaziton of ronald reagan? >> it's a very unsettled subtext in what donald trump says. it's one thing to say america wasn't great when bill clinton was president or barack obama was president if you're running for the republican nomination. but he's skipping over 12 years of republican presidents. >> right. >> with the last name of bush. >> of bush. and now jeb bush. he's a competitor. >> right. that's exactly righ

. >> lewis, you're on with former governor matt blunt. >> caller: thank you for taking my call. i just recently leased a call, a gasoline motor, combustion motor. in three years the car will have a certain value. but i wonder how have they calculateded the use of the combustion engine? how long until they stop producing combustion engines because i worry about the value of the car. i feel like the guy that still has a horse and buggy, i look at the ford model a down the street, when will my car be zero value versus all the hybrids and electric? do you know when they'll no longer have combustion engines? >> i think in terms of value, you're safe in the near term. i lease and own vehicles that all have combustion vehicles. obviously automakers are exploring other innovative options. you'll continue to see a mix of different types of power train out there, whether it's in hybrids or plug-in electric hybrids. i think you'll see a lot of options for consumers. certainly in the near term, the combustion engine is going to remain an important part of that. >> what make and model do you
