we are in oakland. laura? >> police have had the body cameras since 2010 but the first time they have shown the video to the reporters here this morning. they showed the video from two recent incidents one that got the most attention was the shooting of wilkes on wednesday at 27th and martin luther king jr. he was stopped by oakland police driving a car police say was wanted in an armed robbery in july. he took off. there was an attempt at a carjacking according to the police. and then at 27th and broadway there was a problem and you can see the police chasing wilkes and they are on the sidewalk and he appears to be carrying a gun in the left hand. he turns around and runs back to the police. that is when the shots rang out. here is the police chief on why his department released the video. >> we believe that doing it in the manner we have done it will allow us to correct some of the misinformation that is out there and at the same time preserve the integrity of our investigation. >> now, the chief went open t

alex savidge is in oakland with more on this investigation. alex. >> reporter: pam, good morning to you. this happened in oakland but for some reason the contra costa county district attorneys office is under investigation. this happening happened across the street or close to the oakland airport hilton. this morning you take a look there, you can see a couple policeouts that are here. let me show you the scene. it was just about 10:30 last night. a major response from oakland police after one person was shot either on the hotel property or just in front of the hotel. now that shooting victim was taken to highland hospital and we don't have an update on their condition. it is unclear who may have fired the shots out here but we have put in calls to oakland police. they referred us to the sheriffs office. and we just heard back a short time ago from a lieutenant with the contra costa sheriffs office. so obviously we have put in calls to district attorney's office. we are working to get more information on exactly what took place out here. again
