pope francis is the fourth pope that will be addressing the general assembly, pope john paul ii has been at the united nations twice. this is considered the largest assemblage of world leaders in this century. >> we were just discussing that and wondering exactly how many leaders would be in the general assembly today. there's 193 member countries and we were told by the new york police department that 170 world leaders have confirmed that they would come, but i think that can't be for today. i think that must be across the whole of the general assembly which stretches well into next week. i think in the hall today will be somewhere in the region of 100 leaders. david cameron, the u.k. prime minister is not here. president putin is not here. he doesn't get in town until sunday, the 27th. i think you have somewhere in the region of 100 leaders and lots of other key diplomats listening to the pope's message. >> h president obama is greeting president xi this morning. new york city said 90% of the word leaders are in this city today. >> it's an extraordinary thing, isn't it? that's the thin
