jason jensen has spent almost 18 years in the military, including 14 in the nebraska army national guard, and he has two comrades on the display who were killed by a roadside bomb in iraq. "our commandor came up front of formation and told us that we had lost two of our own and it's something that i know it's a day that i will never forget. i had to come home from leave a week prior and the thoughts through my head is what if it happened it could have been me...it could be your last day at any moment," said wakefield veterans of foreign wars quartermaster adjutant and nebraska army national guard soldier, jason jensen. jensen toured in iraq back in 2004 where his mission was to work on armored trucks and afghanistan in 20-10 where he was in charge of the guard towers. they protected not only the u-s, but also other countries against the taliban and iraqi terrorist groups. you would know them as recruiting stations, many army reserve centers, national guard armories, where they don't have dedicated assigned force protection or specifically law enforcement officials. you may remember the september 2013 washington navy yard shooting where there were mass casualties. not long after that there was a second fort hood shooting in april of 2014. while the response to that incident showed we made significant progress and were better able to respond, it also highlighted the complexities of trying to prevent these types of incidents. in the 2014 fort hood shooting, the shooter was not motivated by radical anti-american agenda, but rather a series of problems that spiraled out of control which eventually led him to lash out at those who he perceived wronged him. most recently, the chattanooga incident showed how attacks can occur away from military installations. they can occur in communities, large and small, where members of the army reserve and national guard live and work. attacks involving military personnel and facilities are often used as propaganda. regard
