here is the storm which is battering bermuda. fortunately it has weak ends considerably from yesterday when it had top winds of close 150 miles an hour it's now down to 100. so the core of strongest winds actually just to the west of the islands of bermuda. they did have win gusts elevated location in the southwestern part of bermuda of 96 miles per hour. but generally at the bermuda airport they had winds 65 to almost 70 miles per hour. but it's going to take a track like this so it's out to sea and heading toward the british isles by the end of this week. no problems for us except that it's going to continue to generate some big waves even though the storm has weakened bigger waves getting out from that system. we'll see those on the new england coastline the next couple of days maybe 6 to 8 we still have 7 to 9 footers from our buoys out there right now. it's still kinds of rough and choppy. but it's going to become less choppy and the waves have become more defined as we have more of an onshore winds by tuesday. in the meanti

actually was the blocker, and that's what pushed joaquin out to bermuda. let's go to a live picture. this storm, this is taped from earlier this afternoon. this storm will continue to batter bermuda through the next, i'd say, five or six hours before things begin to calm down just a little bit. let's go back to our maps right now. tell you a little bit about where the storm is. it's traveling north-northeast, still packing 100-mile-per-hour winds, and it's 95 miles to the west of bermuda. so it continues to move through. it's going to be a very rough night ahead for anyone who lives in hamilton and surrounding arias and new yorkers who visit there. it travels out to sea, good bye, good riddance. what a nice stretch we have into and through much of the week before we see a little bit of moisture late in the week. showers return. as far as tonight goes, down to 50 degrees. still a little bit windy. into tomorrow, 65 degrees. less breezy, and the seven-day forecast, you're going to like what you sigh. temperatures are comfortable. especially for this time of

bermuda now under the hurricane watch. they are likely going to get category 2 storm, as it is to the west of bermuda, but they are on the wrong side of the storm, the side of the storm with the most surge. this is sunday at 2:00 in the afternoon, 105 mile per hour winds. the storm will continue and make more of a northeasterly turn. as that happens, it will weaken significantly and really pick up. it is going to pass off our coast around 500 miles away, but we'll still be feeling the impacts throughout the weekend. we're talking more coastal flooding, more winds as well, more rain too. it will be windy today, especially along the coast, gusts as high as 50 miles per hour possible. inland 35 mile per hour gusts more likely, but if you are along the shore, you are going to see the effects of these storms off our coast. windy today, we also because of these winds have driving inland. and tomorrow. there is a warning along the jersey shore, an advisory for the east end of long island. so the situations that you witnessed yest

a life-threatening storm shares -- search is expected on bermuda. they have a rough day -- storm surge is expected on bermuda. they have a rough day ahead. monday and into tuesday, the seas will be rough for us. the storm will take a sharp speed up and begin to gradually weaken. it is staying well off of our shores, but it has an indirect impact on our seas. the temperature trend for us. it has been chilly which i personally liked. i thought it was invigorating. now we warm back up. today 61 which is a slight improvement. most of us will stay in the 50s. tuesday it will be 60 for -- monday will be 64 and tuesday 70. high pressure to the north will start to went out over the stationary front. it is the stationary front that has been the source of instability for the past several days here at home. joaquin is also feeding moisture. today will be the better half of the weekend with maybe a stray shower. we will stay dry on land and the coast will be hit hard. it will be wendy for all and tomorrow and -- windy for all and tomorrow a nice start to the wo

bermuda already have watches and warnings in effect right now. in the carolinas, you can see that moisture streaming up from joaquin streaming up to the carolin carolinas. we've seen over nine inches of rain over the last 24 hours. anywhere from charleston all the way up to myrtle beach. the areas of red is why flash floods are happening right now. where there's green is where flooding is happening right now. and over the next 72 hours, we're expecting to see 12 to 18 inches of rain, especially up here towards the north closer to the mown tape and thes -- mountains. in the northeast we're talking about coastal flooding because an area of high pressure is pushing all that rain towards the coast an up into the areas, inlets, the chesapeake bay, for example. i want to show you one particular house on the new jersey coast. we talk about damage here and then we saw a lot of -- then we actually saw the house off its foundation. big problem there. we're not going to be seeing this ending probably for the next 48 hours. >> and that damage we're seeing he

the outer edges of hurricane joaquin making its way toward bermuda. they're going to get anywhere from 3-5 inches of rain. hurricane force winds later today. it is a category 3 hurricane right now. the good news with this one is it is trekking along to the north and east at 21 miles an hour. it passes by bermuda tonight and gets closer to us by late monday night or tuesday and then well out to shore moving out to sea and then weakening. i'm meteorologist danielle vollmar. >> hey, bartender, keep 'em coming.
