"now, local 5 sports are iowa sports" jordan/bam: a wise man once said "progess is impossible without change" iowa state coach paul rhoads appears to have taken that quote to heart. going with joel lanning as the starting qb over sam richardson. but that wasn't the biggest news of the day. at his weekly press conference this morning, rhoads dropped a bombshell. a wise man once said "progress is impossible without change" iowa state coach paul rhoads appears to have taken that quote to heart this week going with joel lanning the starting qb over sam richardson. and while that appeared to be the big topic of the day, coach rhoads made an even bigger headline. "unfortunately i had to make a change at offensive coordinator this morning. mark and i couldn't get on the same page on a few importnat items. we tried to talk that through again this morning in an effort to get us moving in a different direction, in the end mark was not interested in that, i wish that wasn't the case." with that

we also caught up with former cyclone jeff woody to get his thoughts on all the changes in ames... "rhoads felt that mangino wasn't, like he said, wasn't on board and they weren't going in the same direction. and i think coach rhoads is aware of the fact that he's hanging by the short hairs of his job. so to be able to make that change in the middle of the season, it does take quite a bit of gumption to do that. but i do think it lies more down to, in order for me to save my job we all have to be going in the same direction and you're not going in the same direction so this whole program gets completely disbanded if we're all not moving together." jordan/fs iowa state made another change going with chris francis as kicker over cole netton. saturday's homecoming game versus texas is set for 6 pm on fs-1. jordan/fs the final high school football rankings of the regular season are out. dowling will take its undefeated record and #1 rank into the playoffs going for the three peat. ankeny finds itself at #5 a very central iowa heavy 6-10. waukee at 6, valley at 7, johnston at 8 and cent

tune in to cyhawk rewind as jeff woody helps me break down on the game film. akrum wadley-- iowa's sophomore running back-- is the big ten offensive player of the week with 26 carries for 204 yards and four touchdowns a huge day against northwestern this past saturday as iowa moves up to number 12 in the ap football poll. now an article on hawkeye nation dot com is getting some attention. it's titled dear america: iowa doesn't care what you think. it's written by jon miller-- a former radio show host in des moines. he talked about how all of the national media overlooks iowa or gives them negative attention because of the schedule they have left. he noticed it particularly this last saturday from kirk herbstreit then in the coverage of the iowa northwestern game-- and felt something had to be said. but not everyone is taking kindly to it. " a lot of criticism about iowa's schedule the remainder of this season and while we can all agree it's not a world beater i just think both sides of the narrative aren't being shared iowa's schedule and the results of that s
