joining me, msnbc's steve kornacki. walk us through the options that republicans have right now to move forward. >> so right now, there is basically three main scenarios for how this whole speaker situation is going to get settled. we will take you through them. start with the first scenario luke was just talking about. all eyes on paul ryan from wisconsin right now through this weekend, until he says something more dwefinitive. the key question with paul ryan is will that pressure ultimately be enough from these top republicans to get him to say yes to a job that he clearly doesn't want. he would rather not have. as luke says, the more he holds out, the more potentially he has leverage with the conservative forces in the republican conference who have caused such problems for john boehner and for kevin mccarthy. so the first scenario still on everybody's board is does paul ryan get to yes. we'll see how that plays out over the next few days. let's say he doesn't. let's say he says no. here's another scenario. it involv
