during t the army meeting in washington, we met with major general darrell williams of africa and i asked him to discuss the leading threats in africa. general:rral we are the army component and we focus on security, so the threats on africa are varied and diverse from a bow boko haram to in theaab and isil north, those are the big three. is the secondl need, controlling al-shabaab is the first, and controlling boko haram is the third. our new army chief has talked about readiness, so my responsibility is to have a ready army force to conduct operations on the continent of africa as a part of a joint force to go after those groups. vago: you have groups that have so many expertise points in that part of the world? major general: that's right, we do a lot of the heavy lifting. vago: as you mentioned, your job is to build partnerships, whether it is with the african union or the nations individually to give those nations and organizations the capability of defending themselves without putting americans in the operations. how are you able to train and support militaries around the region to
