rich kirkland, "7 news today in new england." >> christa: here at 5:45. we have breaking news to pass along from overseas. u.s. officials are assessing the results of this air strike in syria targeting jihadi john. they believe that the terrorist was killed in that attack. >> jadiann: the british man is suspected in the beheadings of american journalists including james foley. jennifer eagan is live in rochester where foley's family lives now. >> reporter: jadiann, the terrorist known as jihadi john first appeared in a video on line back in august of 2014. it showed the murder of james foley. u.s. officials are working to confirm a u.s. drone strike in syria killed the isis militant, mohammed emwazi. according to reports emwazi was tracked carefully and was riding in a vehicle at the time of the attack. officials say emwazi was the masked man in several videos showing isis hostages executed. the first was the murder of james foley. he grew up in wolfeboro, new hampshire. his parents live here in rochester. he had been captured in syria in november 2012. h
