thank you so much for that. >>> let's go to nbc's blake mccoy. he's in san bernardino by the scene of the shooting. so blake we have heard from the head of the fbi on this. what is he saying? >> well, the head of the fbi as you heard in pete williams' story there is still acting under the belief that these two were acting alone. not part of a larger terror cell. we are here at the site of the original shooting from this wednesday. you can see it is still an active investigation behind me. we are not being allowed closer to that building this morning. this is a last remaining active crime scene. the fbi has finished their investigation of the home. they're taking computer hard drives as well as notebooks and others they deem necessary for the investigation out of that home. and overnight, they also cleared that bullet riddled suv from the intersection where it has been sitting since that shoot-out on wednesday. so we are down to just one active crime scene as the detectives, the fbi, begin looking into what was that motive. they hope to find what

nbc's blake mccoy has more. >> reporter: caroline and josh bishoff got a drone for christmas. neighbors beware, their flying skills need honing. they are some of the 400,000 holiday. learning to fly it is unobstacle. with all this new activity in the sky, the federal government is clamping down. from now on, anyone operating a drone must register it with the faa. the new rules apply to anyone over 13. you must give your name, address and e-mail. the cost is $5. that is being waived for the first 30 days. >> as soon as you start flying outside, you are in effect a pilot. and the responsibility with becoming a military and rulinges apply. >> reporter: the faa says that will allow them to share rules with people like staying below 400 feet and no flying within five miles of an airport. airline pilots report 100 drone sightings and close calls each month. in january, this drone crashed on the white house lawn. and just this week, this video went viral after a drone nearly that sort of clumsiness has james barnes bracing for a post holiday rush at his drone academy. >> before june,

nbc's blake mccoy joins us tonight from san bernardino. what's the evidence that people are look for? blake. >> reporter: that's the big question, chris. i just got back from the lake. the fbi held an impromptu press conference because a lot of people in that area, a lot of neighbors have come around and are gathering and are concerned about what they're looking for in the lake. the fbi says they have leads that place the couple in this park around this lake around the time of the shooting. they won't say what evidence they're looking for but we do know that in previous searches around the home they found two crushed cell phones that had tried to be destroyed by this couple. they're working to see if they can get any information off of those cell phones. so it is very possible, and they're working under the assumption that there could be more evidence that this couple tried to dump or destroy. you can see one of the dive teams there. and i'm told that water is very, very murky. that's why you see them even just on the shore there feeling a
