it's a busy weekend at mount charleston after las vegas received a "white christmas". lee canyon received six inches of fresh powder overnight. the ski and snowboard resort also sold out "snow kids packages" and tubing today. park officials say there will be lots of traffic through sunday... and it could carry into the new year. they remind everyone to have patience... and watch for kids running in the road. once the park gets too full -- officials will set up checkpoints... and you'll only be able to get in when people exit the park. christmas is officially over... and some are already starting to take down the tree and decorations. a christmas tree recycling drive is underway. u-n-l-v and springs preserve are heading the program. there are more than thirty drop- off locations throughout the valley... like parks and neighborhood lowe's stores. most of the locations are open 24-seven. years ago. since then -- more than 175-thousand trees have been turned into mulch for landscaping and dust control -- which will help beautify parks.
