right here at san bernardino avenue. just a little ways, maybe a quarter mile down the road, the vehicle in which those suspects were trying to get away is still sitting there. i've heard we can actually see it from the police checkpoint with the lights still flashing on that vehicle. law enforcement officers say they probably will not be leaving here any time soon because this is an active crime scene, amongst the other active crime scenes we know police were at. one, of course, the inland regional center, and the house in redlands, where you said the fbi and other law enforcement agencies looking for any evidence they can find with regard to these suspects, syed farook and tashfeen malik. again, ongoing crime scene, still in the middle of the night here in los angeles -- in the los angeles area, i should say, san bernardino county. >> jacob, have police given you any indication as to what they're doing right now at that scene where you are, where the shootout took place just hours ago? why is it still an active crime s

if they are angry in san bernardino, who are they angry at? >> reporter: i can't speak to how the community is feeling as a whole. we do know from hearing from witnesses yesterday and friends and family of loved ones involved in this shooting that yes, people are angry that there doesn't seem to be any traction, movement from washington to curve gun violence. everybody is saying something has to be done, certainly we know the debate is what does that actually look like? but when you talk about a loss of innocents that's absolutely right. because people here are saying how could this happen in san bernardino. it's a population of just over 200,000 people largely middle class, working city, about 60 miles east of los angeles. they do have a little bit of a history with gang violence, but they certainly never thought they would witness a mass shooting takes place here in their city. >> jennifer california has some of the toughest gun laws in the country, and yet these two people according to police were armed to the teeth, they had ak-47 long rif

chris martinez has the latest from san bernardino. >> reporter: thousands of san bernardino county employees are heading back to work today just five days after since 14 people were killed by syed farook and his wife, tashfeen malik. the environment health services division where farook and many of the victims worked will be closed for at least another week. federal agents are reviewing evidence taken from the home of enrique marquez, farook's friend and neighbor. they believe he provided the rifles used in the massacre. sources say they are analyzing gun store surveillance video showing marquez and farook together. this individual says the two men attended the same high school and were close. >> when he would go with syed and work on the cars, they were happy. you could see them laughing. >> reporter: the investigation now centers around whether farook was radicalized by his wife. loretta lynch says investigators are trying to find out more about her background in pakistan and saudi arabia. >> we are working closely with our foreign counterparts to gather that investigation. >> reporter: is
