meteorologist cecily tynan in for melissa tonight and joins us with a check of the accuweather forecast. >> hi, walter, find that christmas sweet are you have not need sod far you will have to bundle up the next two days. right now 41 degrees me philadelphia down from a high of 50 and which is actually nine degrees above normal. so still relatively mild. but, mother nature is going to bring us a brief blast of arctic air. satellite 6 along with action radar showing what is going on low pressure moving out of canada towards northeastern new england and what this will do is drag a cold front through our region and that cold front will really unleash the coldest air mass of the season and air that's been bottled up over canada will be moving in. you see the temperatures generally in the single digits even below zero it will be modifying as it moves in. and we're looking at afternoon highs only in the 30s. so it's not record cold. but it's really shock to the system. all for december we have jet stream well up to the north. record warmth temperature many days in 60s and 70s and next two day

meteorologist cecily tynan joins us with the very latest from accu weather. >> i'm smiling because the storm system is heading out of here. double scan live showing us this low pressure is finally pulling away and that means that snow is drawing to a close. we are starting to see the wind shifting out of the northwest. instead of the pulling in moisture from the atlantic, that is pulling in dry air, and that will continue to improve the the situation. the eye want to show you this photo. i talk about this a half an hour ago. this is from dewey beach, delaware, and you can see the the beach erosion is to say significant, it is kind of an under statement. dewey beach really taking it on the chin and a lot of the beaches are unfortunately saw a lot of the sand, just pulled right out to sea. beach erosion up and down eastern seaboard. also the the snow, historic snowfall, we have gotten basically a season's worth of snow, in one day. this is a lot like 1938, which was also an el nino year, allentown a record, all time record 31.7 inches of snow. more than the the blizzard of 96, philadelph
