chris christie has been living there. does he win? does he do well enough to continue? >> it will be interesting because he's certainly gained serious traction in the state of new hampshire where he's putting most of his eggs if not all of his eggs into that basket. what's interesting is he's critical of what he calls bluster, which i find ironic given that governor christie has built a political career on bluster. but in that particular quote he hit obliquely, he hit trump, cruz and rubio and of course he would attack them because they're running ahead of him particularly in the state of new hampshire. what's interesting about chris christie is that he has now through default but also through a well run campaign become sort of the establishment choice now that jeb bush has faded. >> is it him or marco? it seems that the establishment now, all right, jeb is not where we want him. we've got to look at marco rubio. >> right. i think they're split. i think between marco an between governor christie. but christie has to win, place or show in new hampshire or it's over. >> a

for chris christie to be attacking marco rubio because marco rubio is right when it comes to chris christie's record for conservative voter answs and a f conservative voter flinch when they see the picture of chris christie hugging barack obama. >> but of all the senators running, marco rubio sponsored more legislation with democrats and chris christie's executive experience but extremely unpopular. he's experienced but hasn't done well. these are great talking points but flaws in all of them. >> one of the things i thought that rubio could be the bill clinton of the republicans, bill clinton '92 of the republican party. bring more people in, inject a youth to the race. he hasn't done that. what's interesting is this is a race where governors aren't on the platform in an interesting way, voters are looking at legislators i guess because they think that through washington is where they're going to make their rules. >> i'm not sure being bill clinton in '92 say great idea considering he won because there was a third candidate in the race. >> you're with us all hour. we have more to talk about.

i think it's pretty effective against chris christie. the spread he deployed against ted cruz, manipulating senate records and votes, people are going to go through that quite deeply. i think the facts will be on ted cruz's side in the end. but more interesting broadly higher level with marco rubio and the kind of competition he's locked in chris christie, jeb. i think he's far more assertive. i think he kind of got chris christie to blow his lid a later on in the debate where they had a question about entitlements. christie said marco, you blew it. it was so unnecessarily mean. i think it showed such immaturity on chris christie's part. >> in terms of who needs -- certainly it's new hampshire, i mean, if chris christie doesn't have a strong showing in new hampshire, if kasich doesn't have a strong showing in new hampshire, if bush doesn't have a strong showing in new hampshire, do they have legs in south carolina? >> i think the path is very difficult for those three. but also it depends on how you deskrien strong showing. you saw kasic

it's a big get for chris christie. that said, the other major boston paper, which is widely read in new hampshire particularly in southern new hampshire is the boston globe. tonight the boston globe has released their republican presidential endorsement as well. they have picked john kasich. chris christie and john kasich have hinged their campaigns on new hampshire. they are all in and looking for exactly this kind of establishment boost to their prospects. it will be interesting to see if the endorsements have an impact on the polls in new hampshire. in iowa, the equivalent of the boston heralb and boston globe rolled up into one and based inside the state is the des moines register. they picked hillary clinton for for their democratic endorsement and for their republican endorsement, they picked marco rubio. he's running third. he is in that position nationwide, third place as well. donald trump and ted cruz are far out ahead in the polls in iowa. in what was a genius political move by each of them, both of these ca

so this was not just a terrible headline today in the new jersey press for chris christie. this affords the prospect of a lot more, much more terrible headlines to come. depending on what the court decides and who the unindicted co conspirators are. and then there's rand paul. the next republican presidential debate is tomorrow night, south carolina. it's being hosted by fox business, as we have been reporting for a few days now. rand paul doesn't have polling numbers good enough to qualify him to be in that debate. he is not going to make it on to the main stage. he has been offered a seat at the kids' table instead. he has said he will not take that seat at the kids' table. he insists he should be on the main stage, even though under the rules of the debate he didn't qualify to be there. you will recall that rand paul also did not qualify to be on the main stage it at the last republican debate, which was hosted by cnn. but after apparently being pressured by the rand paul campaign, cnn in that debate decided they would break their own rules and let him on to the debate s
