liz claman has you covered. liz: i'll take it. trish, we had a change of heart in the last couple of seconds on wall street after the federal reserve stays frozen in the snow in d.c. the dow industrials down 191 points after the fed said no change just an hour ago to any interest rate move. we're lower by 182. markets turning from green to more green and then plummeting into the red after the fed said economic growth has slowed since december. we knew that. fed inflation is unlikely to rise rapidly. we knew that, but then said we're still going to raise rates gradually. both and then add that signals are out of the rate hike game for now, but again, the fed wasn't exactly a baby dove here, hawkish comments like strong jobs gains tampered this relief, up to you, and experts coming up right now to decide why we're going down right now. the big news out of iowa is donald trump isn't there, flew the corn silo to head to south carolina. is he gone from the fox iowa debate for good after bluntly announcing, quote, bye-bye, i'm out. the

liz: breaking news. listen, we need to tell you that while these numbers don't look like the worst of the session, you might start to see some real capitulation at this hour. what does that mean? it means throwing in the towel. right now the dow, the s&p 500, the nasdaq, the russell, you can see are all lower at the moment. but the buy on the dips crowd, here's the problem. still in leading. not coming in to buy real bargains here. take a look at the nasdaq. losing about 36 points. if it closes down today, that would be the longest losing streak for the index in eight years. the russell 2,000 dipping into bear territory. this is the level to watch. 1,036. we are right there right now. this very second. anything below that puts the index in bear territory. it's already been there today. so we'll see. does it close below 1,036? that would be the headline that you see. now, as bad as it might feel to be in stocks, let's put this in perspective. all three embassies fell more than six% last awake. very tough

liz, over to you. liz: thank you very much, i hesitate to call it a comeback, the breaking news is we have come up off the floor, but we don't want to jinx it. all we have seen is a sea of red. calling it the red tide. swamping wall street at this hour. what have we got? no good news to stop the bleeding into the final hour of trade. dow jones industrials down 360 points, at the worst point of the session, we were down 537 on heavy volume, ahead of that three-day weekend. markets tumbled right out of the gate. this started the minutes the markets opened falling below 16,000 for the first time since september. we're 15 points above 16,000 right now. at today's low, we were down 1600 points for the year for the dow jones industrials. the biggest declines in 4 1/2 months, on both the dow and the s&p. so what happened overnight? china's slowing economy tripped up stock market, the shanghai index tanked another 3.6%, that in turn led investors to believe that the second largest economy will not be consuming

liz: at all? >> yeah. there's a couple things going on i think that negates the reason to raise rates anymore from here. now, we'll see. obviously, if the stock market keeps going up, you know, it gives them a little bit of wiggle room to maybe do another quarter point hike, although i will say this, the global glut in oil is not going to end just because russia and the saudis cooperate on output, you know? we have so much oil in this country because of fracking right now, the fact is that price goes marginally up a little bit, some of those frackers do some more fracking, you see what i'm saying. liz: top it off again. >> it's just, low oil prices are here to stay, and it's going to have an impact, i think, on the markets going forward. be that as it may, remember, the dollar is pretty strong right now thanks to a lot of reasons including the fact that we're the tallest midget in the room. liz: it was great in davos, we didn't pay $19 for a cappuccino. >> yeah, i know, it was really good. and that restaur

liz claman, over to you. liz: trish, thank you very much. we need to tell our viewers we have had a dramatic and sudden drop on wall street in the last 21 minutes, the sell-off took a downturn. the dow jones industrials was down about 360 points, right now we're lower by 322. we see a total reversal and then some from the dow which today jumped 77 points earlier. what's going on? as best we're figuring out could be a couple of things are number one, levels, we fell through a critical level for the s&p 500. that level would be 1901 at the moment when we look at the s&p 500 we're at 1897. we fell through the floor. that was the three month low for the broader index. for the dow, the level is 16,232. again, that three-month low. we're at 16,194. fell through that floor. the nasdaq, the level to watch, 3574. we're at 3553. the nasdaq getting hit less but down significantly, near 3%. the levels that we are watching at the moment are those three-month lows, the lowest levels since early october. and new lows for 2016. here's where we stand right n

wyff news 4's liz lohuis joins us with this exclusive story. liz? liz: people from all over the nation were heartbroken after hyco was killed. some argue the penalties for need to be tougher. i sat down with hyco's handler to talk more about that. >> it's the worst feeling you can ever imagine. liz: for 6 years, deputy brandon surratt and hyco were partners. and that partnership didn't end when the work day was over. hyco went home with surratt every day. he was part of the family. >> my 4-year-old made the statement just a couple of weeks ago. she said, "daddy, i want to throw a rope up to heaven, and i want to pull hyco back down here." liz: surratt says, telling his family hyco was killed was one of the hardest things he's ever done. >> he was their protector. liz: these three people have been charged in the death of hyco. under current law, they could spend 1-5 years in prison, with the possibility of parole. they also face a fine of up to $1,000. a state representative has pre-filed a bill that, if passed, would change that. sentence in there.
