what nasa is doing this morning to honor the astronauts who lost their lives in the tragedy. >> we are pinpointing morning showers for you. we start in the weather center. good morning, central florida. i'm david hall. >> i'm bridgett ellison alongside troy bridges pinpointing all this rainfall. are things starting to taper off? >> a little bit. we'll see another round come in as we head through the afternoon today. yesterday we set some records for daily rainfall totals. today we'll add on top of that. that's why the flooding threat will be the main concern. look at the totals, nearly two inches in orlando. the old record for yesterday's total just more than an inch set in 1903. got up to two inches, almost two and a half inches, the old record an inch. close to two inches set in 1937. a lot of rain came down as early as 8:30 yesterday. today on top of that, there will be spots in brevard county that could see greater than two inches. the flooding threat will be the concern. most of the severe weather will be to the south, we'll mainly see flooding adding up as we see rain coming down

nasa research center is celebrating its 75th 75th anniversary. to celebrate, they're work. yesterday. they used our connection to their space vehicles. >> earlier i showed you the actual rover lab where they systems. any next stop was the electric nasa's 75th anniversary. check out this place. it's filled with these gigantic basically put a lid on and can vacuum suction all the air out of and drop the temperature to near absolute zero. basically what they can do is generate deep space conditions inside of these canisters. now, the reason they would want to do that is so that companies and other nasa properties that are developing things for space can actually test them without sending them out to space. that turns out to save them a lot of money and a lot of time. in this case, what you're looking at is a power generation system, almost a minireactor that they can test in space flight conditions right here on earth. this is a one of one of a kind lab manned by an extremely talented group of people that companies really come to from all over the w
