we're outside the daytona international speedway at daytona beach. this is a big deal. the first major race since the renovations at the tracks. >> reporter: george, the race ended about an hour and a half ago. the crowd started moving out. already, this whole parking lot is pretty much cleared out. many of the fans i talked with were here last year and they told me this year was a very different experience. just because what you mentioned -- the speedway is now a lot bigger. the $400 million daytona project wrapped up just weeks ago. many of the entrances are larger. there are escalators and main concourse levels. thethis these are also wider and there are twice as many restrooms and three times as many concession stands. >> you have the escalators. it is a lot easier. it was nice. we didn't have a a lot of crowd at all. >> so much better. so much group -- better for traffic flow. excellent. >> you're looking live outside daytona international speedway right now. a little over an hour after the race. fans are still making their way out. you can see the parking lot here
