meteorologist jeff smith is tracking it all. he's outside the studio on manhattan's upper west side. wind is behind us. even out here with a dead calm wind it is brutally frigid. temperatures in the lower teens and below zero well north and west tonight. check out the lows we had this morning. this was incredible. down to one below in central park and 13 below in monticello. just to give you an idea of how rare it is, that one below zero in central park. it was the coldest valentine's day on record. the first time we've been below zero since january of 1994 just over 22 years ago. 9 in morris town and 2 below in monticello and 14 in the park. temperatures stay steady overnight if not falling a couple more degrees. a really weather advisory is posted for tomorrow. first flakes arriving probably around 1:00 p.m. in new york city and we're looking at a to points east. it's not that simple, though. this eventually goes to a wintery mix and then rain. we'll time that out for you in the full accuweather forecast later. >> thank you. y

let's get the very latest on the accuweather forecast with meteorologist jeff smith. >> one similarity between this storm and the one friday, long island stands the best chance to get heavier snowfall. there's a winter storm warning through suffolk county. winter weather advisories extend back to west chester county, and coastal flood advisory through the day tomorrow likely to be extended into tuesday as well. we have a new moon, higher than normal astronomical tide, and that can cause splash over at the time of high tide. look at it, it looks very impressive on the radar and satellite. the center of the storm moving more off to the east than the north. thankfully we would miss the brunt of this storm. would stay just offshore, but nonetheless. by 7:00 tomorrow morning, so around daybreak, snowflakes start flying in new york city. would have been flying for a couple of hours, i think on jersey shore. 4 or 5:00 a.m. is when the snow arrives. 10:00 a.m., temperatures fall close to freezing in the city, below freezing on long island. you're starting to accumulate the snow on the roadways

jeff smith was headed that way in road cam 7. that's good snowfall and big flakes, we have snows to connecticut, and looks like port jeff is snowing pretty good on the north shore. it's raining across much of new york city, just over let's say harlem into the bronx. see how it's not uniform over new jersey. some snowing, some rain. it's almost like a spring snow event where you go above 500, 750 feet. you start to get in the snowfall. you go below that and have rain. that's why you're seeing that north of george washington bridge, you'll see a little bit more in the way of wet snow. really from the city on south, it's all about rain from here on out, and north of the city, wet snowflakes, an amazing looking satellite, the low and the lightning happening offshore, and the winds kicking off the coast toward the shoreline. we have minor coastal flooding during the high tide cycle, 8:00 to 11:00 tonight. then there's the big break over the middle of the map. that's where we go through late tonight, and we turn to storm number two, sw

jeff smith slumming with the weekend morning crew today and tomorrow. good morning, sir. >> hi, jeff money. >> always happy to be with you guys. we'll warm up as we head into him to. we're going from winter chill to spring-like warmth as we head dep near the weekend. we see the first little glimmer of hope. we have temperatures in the lower 20s like white plains and 26 in teeterboro, 28 at jfk and la guardia. of course you add in the wind and it will bring things into the single digits well north and west of north city. there is a squeeze play with the system well off to our north that will spread snow showers into parts of canada. we're south of that system, so that means a westerly and southwestly flow during the day. it will be breezy like yesterday, but not quite as cold. we take the edge off of that arctic air mass just a bit. 30 at 8:00 in the morning. a lot of sunshine out there. look at that wind coming in at the day. we're up to 38 by noontime and temperatures in the mid-40s by 4:00 in the afternoon. so pretty nice recovery today. we're talking
