there's a small percentage of homes in the new york area that still have lead pipes. tell us how you treat that. how is that handled? >> it's about six percent of the water lines going from the water main into people's homes we think are still lead. that used to be used all the time. we make sure that our water is acidity versus this alkalinity so it's not corrosive. we keep that in a close range. the other thing we do is we add something called orthophosphate and that lines those lead service lines in the homes that has them and keeps it from leaking into the water. ernie: the water is safe. if someone has a problem and they need to get in touch with you, what's the best way? >> this goes back to the testing. we love to have people test the water in their houses. so if people will go to 311, i think we'll be able to put it on the screen, the city's information line, you can call or e-mail or go on to the web site. we will send you a lead testing kit with instructions. send it back to us. it's all free. we'll send you the results and let you know if there's any proble
