that guy is mitt romney. the first time the nevada caucuses were held in 2008, mitt romney not only won here, he won by a mile. he came in with 51% of the vote. second place was a very distant ron paul. ron paul came in second with only 14% of the vote. awkwardly even though ron paul only got 14% of the vote, that was enough to give ron paul supporters a tow hold that they used that year to hijack the nominating prosays and take over the party to a point where the whole nevada state republican convention was shut down and replaced with a back room conference call where they picked their delegates instead. it should have been a sign. we should have known with that first contest in 2008 that nevada was going to be more than meets the eye. any way, the bottom line, that first one mitt romney won. second one, mitt romney won. the second one was in 2012. in 2012 it was a volatile moment when nevada was having its caucus. mitt romney won for day and the republican party said it was a tie and they said rick santorum

he came in third behind both mitt romney and ron paul. ron paul pulled in 14% of the vote and came in second. you know, that should have been kind of the end of that story, the first caucus. interesting, romney, ron paul, and mccain. that was only the beginning. because when you vote in the nevada republican caucus, they elect delegates to the state convention and it elects delegates to send to the national convention to select a presidential nominee. oh, democracy. and in 2008, when ron paul did not win on caucus day, his supporters decided that nevertheless, they would still out box the other campaign. they would still get all of their delegates sent to the state convention. so it was nuts. a couple months after these caucuses, which technically mitt romney had won, when the noh republicans gathered at their state convention, the ron paul delegates mutiny basically they took over. it was complete chaos. and what they were threatening to do is send a slate of themselves as ron paul delegates to the national convention, even though mitt r

this was the argument against mitt romney in 2012. release it now, while republican voters are still making their estimations and see if there is anything there that could hurt the republicans in november, do it now so republicans can make their judgment now. >> yeah. and there were many republicans that privately communicated to the campaign in 2012 that holding back when governor romney initially resisted, or at least took his time in releasing those tax returns, that it was a mistake. and to put it out, disclose it, and go on. >> and he did that, and it ended up not hurting him at all. >> he eventually did. and if you remember during the general election, what the democrats did was make requests for additional disclosures. and when those additional disclosures didn't come, the democrats framed it as this is somebody you can't trust. what is he hiding? now even though there is nothing to hide and he could be trusted, those questions in the voters' minds were oftentimes crucial in whether or not people decided -- >> what's so interes
