anne makovec is in concord where commuters are facing a tough ride. and anne, what's the latest? >> reporter: anybody heading to oakland or san francisco on bart is going to have to start their journey here this morning at the north concord bart station. anybody trying to come from the pittsburg station is going to have to take a bus in order to get to this point. so basically, this is the end and the beginning of the line this morning. but bart shut down that part of the yellow line yesterday afternoon. again, between the north concord station and the pittsburg-baypoint station after about 25 trains broke down. engineers spent the day looking for any sign of what may be causing power surges that are frying a piece of the train's propulsion system. this happened last month, as well. it was in the transbay tube taking 80 train cars out of service and repairing these cars is not easy. >> it isn't readily available making the problem worse. we are able to quickly fix the piece of equipment by borrowing from a different car. >> reporter: so commuters who are using bart this morning w
