. >>> time to get a check on the roads with julie broughton. >> >> julie: we're seeing typical slowdowns this time of day. again, anywhere really from the turnpike around i-4, you'll see slowdowns in each direction. also, getting reports of a crash that is causing some slowdowns and has the road partially blocked on oak ridge road at kings gate drive. expect some delays there in that area. again, i-4 eastbound from doctor phillips to the turnpike, notice where you see the areas of orange. that is a good indication that we're seeing traffic really slowing down there. average speed on i-4 eastbound from john young parkway up to the 408 drops from 30 miles per hour, slows down to 10 miles per hour heading to the 408 and picks up slightly into the winter park area. do expect those delays. boulevard to colonial, that typically takes around 14 minutes. if you're leaving your house right now, heading out in this area or waiting for someone to get home, that is slower than normal. it takes about 22 minutes. i-4 eastbound also slow. the turnpike to state road 408, that takes 11 minutes. >> ginger

. >> lisa: let's get a check of the roads with julie broughton. >> julie: we've been watching slowdowns in the downtown area. the crash we've been watching near i-4 and colonial, that has cleared. we're seeing heavy traffic in both directions, it's moving. it's a little slower eastbound. the cars moving toward me are westbound. delays in this area, this time of day, especially on a friday. here's how it looks as we go in closer to the downtown area. where you see areas of yellow, red and orange, we're seeing slowdowns. so the speed drops to 5 miles per hour and further to the north of the 408 toward winter park, it picks back up to 30 miles per hour and slow heading westbound from downtown toward the turnpike, approaching the turnpike, average speed there about 25 miles per hour. we've also been watching some slowdowns for our friends in marion county on i-75. that's where the left lane is blocked on i-75 northbound before you get to state road 484. expect some delays in that area. i-4 westbound if you're heading out or waiting for someone to get home, from lake mary to colonial, it tak

. >>> time now to see how the traffic is moving along on this wednesday afternoon with julie broughton. >> julie: it is a slow go out there in a lot of spots. here's a look at the map for you again. this gives us a good idea where you see the colors of the traffic flow and where we typically see slow traffic this time of day, right there through the downtown area. that is no exception today. traffic is slow on i-4 in both directions there, approaching state road 408. a look at your drive times for you, i-4 westbound if you're heading out in the next couple or waiting for somebody to get home, heading from lake mary boulevard to the downtown exit at colonial, it typically takes 14 minutes, so not terribly slow. but expect some minor delays. that is an 18-minute ride. here's more. >> julie: remember, you may see smoke along i-95 in the oak hill area in volusia county because of a brushfire. it's not causing any major delays. i-95 northbound from taylor road to i-4 takes four minutes. southbound on i-95 from state road 40 down to i-4, that is a six-minute ride. >> matt: thank you, julie.

let's get a check of the roads on this monday afternoon with julie broughton. >> julie: we'll tracking some slowdowns through the downtown area. now at i-4 and ivan ho. the cars are approaching colonial. the cars driving away from me are tracking westbound and moving slowly through the downtown area. as well. it's that time of day where you can expect some delays. here's how it looks as we check out the traffic flows on the maps. we're still seeing congestion and delays due to an earlier crash on i-4 at the state road 436 exit. average speed on i-4 eastbound from the turnpike to the 408 is around 15 to 25 miles per hour and slowdowns in each direction down towards the attractions. here are your drive times now. >> julie: back to you guys. >> ginger: thank you, julie. there could soon be more homes available in lake nona. developers are expected to request approval for what would be one of central florida's the "orlando sentinel" is reporting sun bridge would stretch across 37 square miles southeast of orlando. they're planning to build more than 7,000 homes as well as a number of shops

let's get a quick check on the roads brought to you by julie broughton. >> julie: we've been watching this is i-4 at state road 408. earlier we had a crash blocking the left lane on i-4 eastbound near state road 408. that crash has cleared. but as we typically see this time of day, we're talking about slow traffic in each direction. right there through the area. also in east orange county, we've been watching a crash blocking at least one lane there on dean road at state road 50. that does appear to be clearing. you could see some residual delays there as well. i-4 eastbound from the turnpike as you begin to move past john young parkway where the speed drops to 32 miles per hour, then really slows down as you're approaching state road 408. the average speed drops to 12 miles per hour and we keep it slow heading up to winter park and the seminole county area. also we've seen slowdowns on state road 408 at exit 2 which is good homes road. you may see some slowdowns there. >> sachelle: thank you, julie. check your freezer tonight before you heat up your dinner here. because, still ahead,

julie broughton is here with more. >> julie: they look at issues >> julie: there were two reported, quote, "catastrophic engine failure incidents during that time, four incidents of smoke in the cabin and three instances of smoke inhalation problems. and news 6 told you about another emergency landing involving allegiant air. it was heading to indianapolis when it started experiencing problems. the plane turned around just west of savannah and landed at jacksonville's international airport. allegiant is not required to report problems. officials have been investigating maintenance issues with the airline since 2014. >> matt: thank you, julie. a mom and dad are arrested, accused of stealing with their kid. bradley and london taylor yesterday. the couple tried to steal $150 worth of stuff from a palm bay wal-mart. employees stopped them. that's when they got into a physical fight with security. during the scuffle, other workers took their child a safe distance away. the parents took off but eventually were arrested. it's not known what happened to the child. >> ginger: a quick reminder, day

. >> ginger: news 6 anchor julie broughton joins us to break down this report. >> julie: pedestrian deaths went up by an estimated 10% last year. it's called sobering data. the report is based on state traffic deaths just from the first half of 2015. the numbers show more than 2300 people died in the first six months. that is up more than 100 deaths or 6% from 2014. once the entire year is calculated, the association believes it will be a 10% increase. our state, california, texas and new york accounted for 42% of all pedestrian deaths. just this saturday, a person who was hit after midnight on eastbound colonial drive near bennett road. officers say two cars hit that person who later died at the hospital. the report points to several reasons for the increase in pedestrian deaths. they say cell phones distract more drivers as well as people who are walking. also with the warmer weather this year, more people went outside and walked. >> ginger: well, calling all women who are interested in law enforcement. the orlando police department is looking to hire more women. the police department wi
