matt delucia is live in wilmington. tell us how things are right now. >> reporter: about a half hour ago we were just over the state line right by pennsylvania and delaware. now we've moved farther south here along 202, concord avenue right here. a little bit more residential area, just north of downtown wilmington. you can see snow covered cars that are here, right by monroe avenue. you can see how on the pavement, the asphalt, it really just looks wet. the snow is not sticking. again, we're seeing light flurries here right now. it has picked up in intensity a little bit within the last 30 minutes. some of the cars out here traveling on the road. the headlights are on, the wipers on, going at their typical speed you normally see during some rainfall. really not seeing much in the way of slippery surfaces at this point. but we have seen salt trucks through some of the major roads throughout the area. again, it is a good idea just to be careful as you head out the morning. at this point it doesn't look like anything in t

the immediate event that led to "the wilmington 10" with a boycott of wilmington and the segregated schools in the first week of february 1971 by black students who object to their mistreatment by school officials, by police who come on 2 campus and white adult frogs and came to the schools to harass black students. they also protested their exclusion from a variety of extracurricular activities such as cheating, the sports teams, student council, the honor society and so on. the high school students issued a list of demands and established a boycott at gregory congregational church which is affiliated with the united church of christ. a local paramilitary white supremacist organization called the rights of white people, which had broken away from the klan in new hanover county because it believed the plan was too moderate heard about the boycott and began to harass the students including drive-by shootings at the church. in response students and their supporters appealed for city protection including a curfew, but neither the mayor nor the police chief was willing to oblige. they said thin

police in wilmington, delaware are looking into a tragedy this morning. four people and a dog were found dead in an apartment building filled with carbon monoxide. investigators were called to the scene on homestead road in wilmington nbc 10's drew smith is live there for us with the latest on the investigation. drew we were talking. these apartments remember right near each other. >> reporter: right next to each other right down this hill. i went down for a walk down there to see what was happening right now. there are a lot of windows and doors still open and they have these buildings evacuated. officers originally found four bodies and many sick people there last night. it was yesterday when concerned relatives came down to this apartment complex several times trying to get in touch with their brother. finally police were called around 5:00 and they had to kick in the door. inside a tragic scene, three lifeless bodies and a dead dog. with no apparent the officers suspected an environmental problem. fire department investigators found high carbon monoxi
