world of trouble in wisconsin. look at that, down ten points. is that what you're feeling on the ground there? >> reporter: wisconsin is so important, steve, because this is a state that matters in the primaries and always matters in the general election. you have layers here, almost like a wisconsin cheese plate of issues, you've got the question of does donald trump fully understand the issues, that's one piece of this. is what he said about abortion and walking it back going to upset the way voters look at him? there are the fierce trump supporters who seem to give him a pass or get in a new sense of energy every time he's down. then you have the issue of the republican establishment here. you've got governor walker who wants to have a long future and remains popular among his base. you've got the senator ron johnson in a real fight to go back to the senate. then you've got things like the staff issue. what is so different about donald trumps a front-runner in this race is normally when other campaigns fall by t

, of wisconsin to cruz. to a certain extent that is extremely good news for ted cruz and anti-trump folks. stuart: what's the sense, look, i haven't seen a poll, i don't know whether there has been a poll done in wisconsin recently. if there is i haven't seen it. >> no. stuart: what is the standing at the moment? is trump and cruz running neck-and-neck? how does it work out? >> yeah, i think in the published polls they are running neck-and-neck. but i think that is also with john kasich running strong. in about, in less than an hour governor walker will come on my radio show and he will make an endorsement. i think that will be highly influential here among republican primary voters in southeastern wisconsin and i expect him to say he is going to vote for ted cruz in the wisconsin primary, making the point, as he did when he withdrew from the presidential race, conservatives need to coalesce around and anti-trump candidate. stuart: this is very important, this state, wisconsin. especially for a donald trump.

i think wisconsin can be a big moment for him. i don't think ted cruz can catch up, but if he can get close, the closer he gets, the easier the argument comes in cleveland. if he can give people in wisconsin -- it shrinks the gap, makes the argument easier. john: right. mark: as you listen to trump today, since he has been in wisconsin, what is he focusing cruz?his criticism of which aspect of his record her personality is he talking about? >> well, he's going after cruz in a way that -- they are calling him the worst of both worlds. he's establishment now, which is butgative in trump's world, he's an establishment guy who can't get anything done. his record in washington is one of obstructionism, one that he has built a reputation around. on two bigo ied in negatives. and of course there is the lying ted that has been going around, and crowds have been picking up on that. as soon as he starts criticizing cruz, members of the crowd will just chime in "lying ted." mark: lyin' ted. campaign -- normal and this is not a normal campaig

and we're talking about a wisconsin primary where wisconsin is the only game on april 5th. so the candidates are not being sent around the country, splitting off to divide their campaigning time. of course, ted cruz won iowa, and donald trump came in second there. there seems to be a bit of a feeling of perhaps a rela relateability there of what iowa voters were thinking, seeing and what we're finding here in wisconsin. i was able to get close to donald trump with what we call the rope line, the meet and greet and autographs at the end of his event, and i heard people say, be sure to vote. get out there on april 5th and vote. i don't often see donald trump specifically asking for the vote in that way. in his remarks he also talked about how he had won in louisiana but didn't get all the delegates, kind of going through some of the gamesmanship of his irritation over the republican party over how he thinks he's being treated, he says, unfairly. this could cause a bit of a turn in the republican race. ted cruz got the endorsement of governor scott walker here in wisconsin. an
