nbc 10's deanna durante is live at the scene. what do we know so far? >> we do know two women are being treated at philadelphia hospitals. it appears as though the majority of the victims involved in the crash are philadelphia residents. police tell us they are still trying to identify one of the passengers killed in this crash. two people are dead. two people are in the hospital. the two people in the front seat of this 2005 mazda are being treated at two different hospitals this morning. the car was heading south on columbus boulevard, it hit the center median, the car flipped over at some point and also crashed into the corner of this building. this building appears to be a peco facility. police tell us it does not appear anyone was inside. witnesses that were on columbus boulevard that saw the car both before and after the crash, say they do believe that the car had been speeding. >> when i pulled up, the driver was laid across the front. the taxi cab driver stopped immediately after me. actually i was already stopped and out of the car by the time

nbc 10's deanna durante is live for us in south philadelphia. deanna, you just got new video of that crash? >> we did. it's much clearer than the video you've seen since 4:00 this morning. this cameç from a dashcam of a witness heading south on columbus boulevard. that car passed him. his camera was rolling and you see the car, it appears to hit something on the left side of the vehicle, then skirts across the traffic lanes there, comes to a rest after it hits a building and spins around. now, on the scene here accident investigators have been out here all morning long. that witness says that he was one of the first people on the scene trying to help the four people in the car. we know now two people are dead and two people are being treated at the hospital. >> when i pulled up, the driver was laid across the front. the taxi cab driver stopped immediately after me. he -- actually i was stopped and out of the car by the time he pulled up. he took her out of the car, the driver. >> taxi cab driver took her out of the car? >> right. >> reporter:

nbc 10's deanna durante is on the scene of that one-car crash that left two people dead. deanna, what can you tell us? >> we can tell you two people are still in the hospital at this hour. take a look behind me. investigators taking a better look at the car there that has come to rest in front of a peco boulevard near oregon and columbus boulevard. this all happened around 2:30 this morning. the car came flying past them, witnesses tell us, as they were heading south on columbus boulevard. take a look at video one witness snapped from his dashcam. the car comes across the lanes of traffic and hits the building. ple police tell us they are investigating this as a crash

nbc 10's deanna durante is live there on the art museum steps. a cold morning out there for the runners. >> it is. many of them are wrapped in blankets wearing their layers saying they'll take those off when it is time to start running here. the sun is up, runners are out and it is a picture perfect morning here, but when you step away from the picture and come outside, you see and feel it is a little chilly. now, set up for this has been going on all night long. we talked to people that have been here since 2:00, 3:00, setting up the stages and the start and the finish line. look at video we shot a little while ago of the setup still continuing. you can see that people were bundled up in their hats, scarves, gloves, working through the night. and we caught up with high school volunteers, some as young as 14 years old to say, you know, no other place i would rather be on this chilly sunday morning. >> it is cold outside. >> i know. it was worth it. >> worth it, for what? >> because, you know, i got nothing else better to do. >> so students from b

nbc 10's deanna durante is monitoring the hearing in our digital operation center. good morning, deanna. >> good morning, vai. that hearing has just begun. lawmakers are continuing to debate what's the best way to get atlantic city out of its money troubles. an assemblyman trying to get his bill passed he says it will help protect jobs and get atlantic city out of the fiscal mess. the plan is being pitched in trenton right now. city officials have said the city would be out of money by friday. and they'd have to shut down city operations keeping only essential staff working, but they wouldn't be getting paid. yesterday city council ordered a new pay cycle for the employees there. so they'll be paid on friday, but not again until may. that will allow the city to collect may property taxes and use those funds to try and stay afloat, while state senators have passed a governor christie-backed plan to bailout atlantic city, the plan is one that the mayor has said he does not support. now, the mayor and the governor were both in atlantic city yesterday talking about the

nbc 10's deanna durante is live in washington township, gloucester county where the court hearing is schedule. good morning, deanna. >> reporter: good morning, vai and tracy. sister kimberly miller was out of the classroom since november when video of her arrest surfaced. on the tape you see her stumble as she's asked to perform field sobriety tests. she appears to be animated and later video shows her giving investigators a breathalyzer. police say she was driving at two times the legal limit. police say miller backed her car in a meineke in the early morning hours of november 7th and kept on driving. police video shows them carrying a bottle of wine from her car. the little flower teacher has been on leave from the classroom since november. the archdiocese of philadelphia released a statement back then saying that the incident didn't involve any students, didn't happen on school property, however, an online petition has been moving forward since november with more than 2,000 signatures asking for miller's return to the classroom. again, she's expected to be in court here in washing

nbc 10's deanna durante is live at the scene. deanna, what do we know at this point? >> reporter: we can tell you that police sources are telling us they believe the 23-year-old driver of the vehicle did not have a valid driver's license. take a look. this is the scene on south columbus boulevard. about two hours ago, the crash apparently happened. police say they are looking at a high rate of speed here. we have obtained some surveillance video that shows the moments before and the seconds of that crash. take a look at that video. that was given to us by a witness who says the car came past him moving very quickly and at one point they stopped at a traffic light and the car sped in front of him. watch as you see that car. it touches the center median there and then goes across two to three lanes of traffic there and crashes into the side of this building on south columbus boulevard. the driver of the car pulls over and tries to assist the victims in the car. four people in the car, two women in the front seat, a man and a woman in the back seat. we're told the back s

nbc 10's deanna durante is live in logen to explain what happened. >> this all happened around 10:30 last night. police think those bullets may have come from a car. this was a drive-by shooting as a 24-year-old man was leaving a house on the 1,000 block of wagner street. there were a number of people inside that home and that many of them are lucky they were also not hit by gunfire. the 24-year-old man was able to get himself to the hospital where he's being treated at this hour. >> we don't have a motive for the shooting at this time. but of the eight shot that were fired, two of the bullets entered the living room of the private residence that the victim had just left. one bullet went through the front door, another bullet went through the living room window. inside, the propertyç at the te where the two bullets entered the living room, there were 12 people. >> now, many of those people have been or are being interviewed by detectives here with the philadelphia police department northwest detective division. so far, sources tell us they do not have a motive or a description of t

nbc 10's deanna durante is live outside the courthouse in washington township, gloucester county. deanna, this case could be resolved today. tell us what you know. >> reporter: we know this philadelphia fun is expected to be in court today. she's had several court dates since her november arrest. again, she is expected to be here today and we're told that the case could be resolved. it's an early saturday morning in november, watch as sister kimberly miller stumbles during a field sobriety test. at one point while talking to police it appears as though she could be treving, this as police retrieve a bottle of wine from her car. she backed into an auto repair shop, didn't stop to report the damage and instead kept on driving. multiple 911 recallers reported a car driving erratically in the minutes before police stopped here near the black horse pike. later in the morning miller gives police a breathalyzer. in the days after her arrest an online petition gained 500 signatures. today, more than 2200 are there, all urging miller's return to the classroom. the archdiocese placed miller

"nbc 10's" deanna durante has the latest on the investigation. we begin this morning with pamela osborne who's outside of penn present hospital. pamela, fill us in. >> reporter: vai, we just got an update from one of the police officials who was here visiting the officer. he is doing well and in good spirits. police patrol vehicles parked outside of the emergency room entrance of course is where that officer was taken after he was shot by an armed suspect last night. at this time he remains here getting treatment. throughout the morning we saw officers from the 18th district going in and out of presbyterian hospital where hours earlier one of their own was taken after being shot. it happened just before 9:00 sunday evening. two-year philadelphia police officer james mccullough was on patrol with his partner in the area of 59th and market when they were stopped by a woman who said two men were breaking into her car. officers spotted the two men trying to run away from the woman's vehicle. officer mccullough tackled one of the men to the ground and

nbc 10's deanna durante joins us now with more on that suspect and how she got close to her alleged victim. deanna. >> reporter: well, amoore told police according to court papers she did not go to the mall to steal a baby. when she walked into the courtroom here she glanced over, saw her mother and relatives and began to sob and said i'm sorry. >> she says nothing to dozens of reporters and shows little emotion as she is shackled and chained but police say cherry amoore told them plenty. when they discovered the 7 week old in her apartment. >> she has told our investigators that she did not go to the mall with the intention to steal a baby. she also told investigators that she gave birth to a baby boy on february 11th which died a few hours later. we have not been able to confirm any of that story. >> a public defender answered questions outside of court on her behalf. >> she had on line a baby registry for december. was she pregnant? >> can't answer that right now. >> we found two separate baby registries on line with amoore's name and a december due date. those appear to be for a baby b

in south philadelphia, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. >>> philadelphia police have one person in custody following a deadly shooting in the city's wynnfield section. police say a gunman opened fire in a parking lot behind a bar just before 11:00 last night. the 28-year-old man was hit in the shoulder. he died. a second victim was hit by a stray bullet while walking into the bar. he is in stable condition. >>> a picture of a beer pong game is creating controversy on social media. and a group of new jersey students is to blame. this picture was posted to snapchat. it shows a group of princeton high school students playing a game called jews versus nazis beer pong. according to the princeton planet, several of the underage students have been identified. one is the son of a school district employee. the superintendent of the princeton public school sent us a statement which reads in part, i am deeply upset that some of our students chose to engage in a drinking game with clearly anti-semitic overtones. an incident such as this forces us to take a hard look at our efforts in educating our chi

reporting live in plymouth township, deanna durante, n 10 news. >> it's 4:17. new information this morning. families of the victims killed in the germanwings plane crash in the alps are sugar a flight school. they claim the flight school in arizona did not screen the pilot's background. if they had, they would have found he had a history of issues. last year he locked the pilot out of the cockpit and crashed the plane into the mountains. evelyn selke and her mom died in that crash. evelyn was a university music major and her mom graduated from delaware county high school in 1975. >>> the planes buzzed by the "uss donald cook" about a dozen times while in the baltic sea. they flew a simulated attack and failed to respond. they're now addressing it through diplomatic channels. >>> the transportation security information says staffing problems and record number of travelers are causing long checkpoint delays leading many to miss their flight. during spring break last month, nearly 6,800 passengers missed flights nationwide because of tsa checkpoint delays. philly
