mccullough went after griffin. >> the suspect starts to take off. officer mccullough starts to chase him. he turns, he shoots and he shoots him one time in the leg. >> reporter: mccullough applied a tourniquet to his leg because there was so much blood. then his partner rushed him to the hospital. last night, his good friends from the northeast philadelphia rugby club were celebrating their friend's health and say he's a tough guy, the best guy to be on the streets fighting crime. >> he's a quiet guy overall but i mean on the field he's a manhattan. when i heard the report he actually tackled the guy. that's jim me. >> he made the decision to become a cop because he enjoyed. he's one of the only people i know that says i love being a philly cop. i love being out on the street. i love doing it. >> reporter: like we said both suspects are still awaiting those charges. they could be arraigned sometime today. now griffin faces the most charges because he's the one who allegedly shot the police officer. some of those charges do include attempted murder.
