i'm meteorologist karen. we're checking radar this morning as we watch a low pressure system move through our area bringing with it rain as well as snow showers. so in philadelphia we're looking live at the art museum and conditions are dry but cold. mostly cloudy skies right now but check out radar. as this system is sort of pushing right on through the area, pushing up from the south and in from the west at the same time. winds are calm right now but the winds will be picking up as this continues to crank up and move through the area. you can see snow north and west of philadelphia. you can see the top of the system there. then rain further to the south moving through parts of south jersey and parts of central delaware right now. 40 degrees in philadelphia. look at the temperature spread as we head north. in the poconos. 38 in the northeast. warmer as we head closer to the shore line. we can expect rain and snow showers for a good portion of the day and then our winds are expected to increase later on. coul

good morning karen. we're live along the schuylkill expressway early on this wednesday where we had an accident involving a vehicle that ran into the wall here on the ramp from girard avenue to the eastbound lanes of 76. that crash is now long gone. and at this point no delays on the schuylkill in either direction coming off the schuylkill onto the vine, you can do that again. overnight construction is long gone as well. so, traffic moving in both directions, starting to tap the brakes on the westbound side but overall not too bad. construction crews will return here tonight at 11 o'clock and close the vine once again. had some overnight work along north broad street just north of the vine so watch out for a bumpy ride there. that's all part that of resurfacing project. same is true along the kelly drive where they start add three and a half mile stretch repaving project this week. had a crash early this morning in north coventry chester county but it just cleared out from chestnut hill road at cherry hi

. >> so let's get you ready with meteorologist, david murphy and karen rogers. good morning. >> all right, guys, well, we're off to a fairly cloudy start. i think we are going to see some sun especially south of philadelphia but even in the city some and as you take a look at satellite and radar, we do have the showers that came through last night, a couple of you had a brief rumble of thunder and some lightning. it's that second system out by pittsburgh that's going to come in later this afternoon and give us another round of showers and perhaps some spotty gusty thunderstorms. 59 degrees, not breezy, fairly comfortable, a light jacket i think definitely works on the way in. 53 in allentown, 56 in wilmington, 55 in trenton currently and in the 60's in millville, cape may and down in dover. as we go through the day, on this election day in pennsylvania, 65 degrees by 8 o'clock, 74 by 11 o'clock and by 2 o'clock, 81. in through that period we expect to be dry so if you have plans to be outside doing stuff or if you have plans to vote, that's an okay time period.

steve and david and karen and guy are here. tonight on fast, everyone was focused on google and microsoft, there was another tech company that sent a chill down the spines of the investors today. and why people are so worried. the ceo of caterpillar said something on "squawk box" this morning, has karen fineman downright livid. why you could be looking at your portfolio. >>> we start with the worst numbers for tech. google and microsoft weighing heavily after disappointing ranges last night. but the s&p ended higher. can the market continue to rally without tech? guy? >> that's the story. that's how we led the show last night. we saw where the stocks were trading. you asked the question, one of the things we said, look, we've seen numbers like this before. the resilience of the s&p is something. trust me, folks, i'm not pretending to be bullish, i have not been bullish. you can't discount the fact that the s&p should have sold off significantly, given the earnings, and i get it they're nasdaq stocks, but it was unchanged on a d

first alert meteorologist karen thomas is tracking the wet weather. >> i wore the turtleneck. you need to bundle up if you're heading out this morning. actually any point on our saturday you want to bundle up. we're feeling more like winter time than springtime so we're in a first alert where are day because we're anticipating a storm system moving in today that's expected to bring with it rain as well as snow. we can expect accumulating snow north and west of philadelphia. slippery conditions every where across the delaware valley and we can look forward to subfreezing temperatures later on tonight. here's a look at the leading edge of the system as it pushes in from the west. you can see that there's all snow in this system to the north and to the west. you see the freezing line just pushing south, southwest of wilmington and then rain just to the south of that and so that is pretty much how it is expected to sort of unfold as we move on through our day. north and west of philadelphia can expect snow with a slight accumulation. slushy m

i'm meteorologist karen thomas. have the umbrellas handy if you're heading out early this morning because we do have rain moving through the region. here's a live look at cape may. companies not too bad in camp may mainly in the lower 50s down there. rain nonetheless. 53 in philadelphia. 54 in atlantic city. and 53 right now in southern delaware. the rain showers will continue through the morning and then the winds are expected to pick up later today and strengthen as we move through the overnight starting at midnight tonight we have a high wind warning in effect. we anticipate wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour. take it easy there. for today, 60 to 64 degrees for high temperatures across the region. we will stay with cloudy skies. rains are expected to clear out later on this afternoon. as i mentioned, winds later on tonight and we're going to keep a check on our falling temperatures because there's the other part of the weather story. temperatures will be taking a dive into the subfreezing category overnight tomorr

let's get to karen thomas with our new neighborhood weather. it's a detailed forecast, karen. for a day like today when you have the rain mixed in different areas. it's perfect. >> absolutely. rosemary. you hit the nail on the head when you said scattered rain. as i was driving in this morning, nothing out where i am, but the closer i got to drexel hill. downpour. it really does depend where you are. right now temperature readings on the warm side. believe it or not these are current temperatures really across the entire viewing area. we're well above where we should be this time of year at this hour. we do have a high dew point. a lot of humidity mixed into that. so if you were to step out early this morning, not only do you have rain, scattered showers to contend with, but also the humidity. you'll really feel it as you head outside. when we're looking at all of the areas here for our today's high, we can see 70 degrees right here in philadelphia, the same for south jersey. a little cooler up in the le hih valley and 71 in delaware. we can expect most of the area to see rain
