good morning, kari. how are you doing and things are heating up. >> going from basketball weather to baseball weather this week. let's look at a live shot from at&t park. there's some fog out there that we will have to deal with during that morning commute and then once that clears out we'll have sunshine all day long and our temperatures warming up. now 46 degrees. in the north bay and 53 degrees and drop in on the east bay we're at 52 degrees in dublin and 54 degrees in brentwood and 53 degrees now in lafayette. in the north bay, 46 degrees as you head out the door. still cool in some spots and the winds rushing in from the north and northwest. up to 15 to 20 miles per hour. sustained winds at 30 and we could have gusts at 35 to 40 and that also creates some choppy waves out there at area beaches. of course, you may be thinking about the beach because we'll have some spring to summer-like weather over the next couple of days. 70 in san mateo and the outer richmond district at 72 degrees and also in oak

let's start out with kari. >>any if the rain has moved out, we still have some wet roads all across the bay area and it's because of this system. it's fairly weak and it continues tamove to the south, but it's just enough to have us turning on our windshield wipers and running for cover if you're out early this morning. a look now closer at the east bay. the south bay and parts of the peninsula where it's been very scattered. that will be the case as we go into the next hour or so as this continues to move away. temperature wise, we are in the low 50s, some hid-50s in oakland now and 47 degrees now in santa rosa. looking back at some of the rainfall totals we've had so far in the castro about 0.5 and we were expecting about 0.1 for most of us. into the east bay, up to 0.25 in danville. the rain very hit and miss and scattered throughout the morning. it's just now starting to make it into the south bay where rainfall total about 0.1 or less and then into the peninsula more of the same. nice little light soaking

kari hall joining us. good morning. >> good morning, sam. we are starting out with warm clouds and milder temperatures. more sunshine after those clouds and the fog clears out. it is milder. look at the temperature in the south bay. it's 57 degrees and we have 50 in the north bay and some patchy fog developing there and in san francisco. we will have a mix of sun and clouds again today and temperatures a couple of degrees warmer in a few spots. the north bay up to 70 degrees and 68 degrees in the peninsula, as well as the south bay. our temperatures will be holding steady and then some rain in the forecast. i'll detail that coming up in a

. >>> meteor alologist kari hall here with the forecast. it's a little spike, wouldn't you say? >> hot and short lived and that spike in those temperatures would be near record today and definitely smashing records tomorrow. looking at where we are going to go this afternoon in san rafael. up to 83 degrees, but the record is 87. san francisco not close to the record. oakland will be maybe tying a record or tying that old record in livermore. san jose 83 today. looking at the highs. we will have some of those temperatures reaching into the 80s today. we'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. let's head over to mike giving us a look at what's happening as you head out the door. >> as you cross the bay bridge, a very pleasant view right now and an easy drive across the span. great stuff. that's what we want to see. it is tuesday. traffic tuesday what we call it because we expect to have your volume this week and next week going to disrupt the flow a little bit. making things lighter. we have the warriors and zee the a's both playing today and that will be a problem as

kari are you smiling over there? >> what exactly are you thinking of? >> i don't know. >> doesn't that roll off the tongue for you? >> la nina is a good thing to get involved with. >> i'll just leave that there. let's take a live look outside at san francisco. beautiful day. take a look at all of that sunshine from our weather underground camera. now the temperatures at 60 degrees in livermore and 60 in san francisco. san jose at 60 degrees. low 60s now, feeling a little bit more comfortable and our temperatures will continue to climb the rest of the day. as we break it down for berkeley, we'll be at 70 degrees at 3:00. 4:00 more of the same. and during the evening commute riding home with some comfortable weather and some sunshine, 69 degrees there. a look at all of the microclimates, into the low to mid-70s for our inland areas. right along the coast, 65 in pacifica. and the seven-day forecast, also at the bottom of the screen you'll want to check that out because our temperatures do continue to warm over the next three days. low 70s for fremont today

kari hall has more on that. >> yes. it's all about the summer heat snap then the rest of the week we are back to our normal temperatures for the middle of april. it's now 49 in the north bay. a nice cool start. it is 55 in the south bay. as we drop in to get a closer look, it's 51 in morgan hill. campbell at 52. 50 as you step out the door in willow glen. a lot of sports today including at at&t park weç have the diamondbacks and giants. will be 70 at first pitch. then into the lower 60s as that sea breeze returns later this evening. oakland for the warriors game at oracle, it will be 73 at 7:00. then into the lower 60s by the end of the game, turning nice and breezy. also in san jose, we've got the kicks versus the sharks. the play-offs there will be 78 degrees at 7:00, then 65 by 9:00 this evening. it will be another warm day, up to 87 in los gatos. 80 in the tenderloin. 92 in fairfield. 91 in brentwood. we'll see upper 80s for the tri-valley and the seven-day forecast. we'll be cooling off and this will be the reaso

let's check in with kari. >> it will be slightly cooler today. a little bit better, but still a warm day after a cool start. let's get a look outside. it is 55 in oakland. 7:00 in san francisco and san jose. livermore 52. here is where we are headed. 82 in san jose. compare that to 91 yesterday. san mateo 74. also 70s and low 80s for parts of the north bay and oakland today 87. in the tri-valley mid 80s. into the next few days, our temperatures continue to cool. we'll have rain before the weekend. i'll let you know about all of that in less than ten minutes. mike is giving us updates on the roadways. >> fremont is the most activity. here is what i'm talking about. san jose, followed that clear up around 6:00. starts to build over the next 20 minutes. a look toward fremont, southbound 880. those three avenues head in towards fremont. that's where you'll see the build starting. smooth drive. nothing unusual there. a quick live look at san rafael shows you southbound 101. no real issues as far as speed is concerned. 101 south looks great. >>> acknow

let's check in with meteorologist kari hall. what's the latest? >> we're still tracking the heavy rain moving through the east bay and now into the south bay. while we do have some very light rain elsewhere, when you see the bright yellows and reds, that shows where the most intense red is and it's been scattered around santa rosa and fairfax. as we zoom into san francisco, taking a break for most of the city on the western side of the city, around the sunset district, you're seeing light rain there. over towards san ramon and into the tri-valley, livermore, heavy downpours. in fremont, the showers are coming down at a rate as we zoom in about .04 an hour. quite a heavy downpour there. looking at san jose, rain moving in towards los gatos. that continues to progress towards the south and east and move towards morgan hill. haven't seen any lightning or strong winds but as the wind picks up as the rain moves in, also slick roads that you'll have to worry about and that will be with us for the next couple of hours. so some more rain is in the forecas
