we will start on long island. this is matt in selden. 40degrees where he is. his comment, today was an improvement. ready for warmer weather. yeah, i think people are ready for warmer weather. we have some warmer weather heading our way this week. that's good news. elaina says 44 degrees. her comment, after a chilly start this turned out to be a very pretty day but clouds rolling in. yeah, i think it was. i think it was a beautiful day. the chilly side, even in the warmest part of the day, the sunshine definitely made it feel better. adam says it's 41. his comment increasing clouds weekend. we are taking a live look outside. this is times square. kind of hard to make out the clouds with all those lights. we do have a thin layer of it's 46 degrees. winds out of the south- southwest at 13 miles per hour. so here are the highs around the area today. upper 40s to the low 50s. 51 the hotspot newark. bridgeport, central park, laguardia all reporting highs today of 50 degrees. now, at 50 it's a full 9 degrees below where we should be. almost 10 degrees off the mark.

police tonight are asking your help finding the thief who stole long island last month. the chair belongs to 10-year-old cody. cody has leukodystrophy and cerebral palsy. police tell us his chair was taken from the family's suv, but the family tell us it was taken off their porch. his mom says although cody can walk a little bit, she needs the chair when he leaves the house. he weighs 60 pounds and carrying shim a struggle. >> it's the only way i can think about it and not be sad is that somebody needed. maybe more than we did. maybe it was somebody homeless who needed to sell it for money and didn't have food, didn't have somewhere to sleep at night. >> wheelchairs are often stolen and sold for parts or scrap. the family is hoping insurance will cover the chair. >>> the new york security council will vote on a bill that could restrict costume characters to certain areas in times square. a committee gave the green light that designates commercial zones where workers can ask for tips. the move comes after an uptick of complaints over aggressive >> let's go back to janice
