peter alexander is in philadelphia today. so, peter, this is interesting. paul manafort was brought in. we talked about the professionalization of the trump campaign. paul manafort went to that republican meeting and told republicans you're going to see a different candidate in the fall. now indications, trump may not be too happy about this. >> yeah, more evidence of some infighting within donald trump's campaign. politico first to report this. in effect that donald trump is bristling at these efforts to implement a more conventional campaign strategy. as a result, he may be punishing that new campaign manager, paul manafo manafort. you remember just last week he was in florida speaking privately to republican officials, rnc members. he told them that trump was projecting an image when he was speaking on the campaign trail and saying that trump would tone that down in the future. according to politico, that didn't sit so well with donald trump and trump has also been frustrated by manafort bringing in some former lobbying colleagues to join this campaign.

peter alexander is at a polling station in new york city. he's been following the trump campaign. what do we know about this reshuffle that's taking place? >> obviously what we witnessed is this small core of donald trump loyalists now expanding into a growing team of seasoned political professionals. paul manafort, rick wiley, formerly the campaign manager for scott walk enow manafort's deputy. part of this upheaval has created a political parallel political campaign. the manafort team and lewandowski team as it's described to us in some form. a senior staff meeting, nbc news confirmed, taking place in new york this past weekend. as for the money being spent going forward, donald trump going to dip deeper into his billions. we're told $20 million being budgeted for aggressive advertising spending in big upcoming states to include california. paul manafort has always circled that date, june 7th. 172 delegates up for grabs. a critical one if they want to win the majority of delegates before heading into the convention this summer. a senior campaign source is telling nbc news there

peter alexander, thank you for that. nbc's hallie jackson is up in buffalo, new york, that's where ted cruz is going to be sitting down with chuck todd for an exclusive msnbc town hall, that will be tonight. last night, though, at a different town hall event we saw ted cruz appear on stage with his children getting a glimpse of a side of ted cruz we really don't get to see in public that much. hallie, what can you tell us about that? >> reporter: steve, you really could say that caroline and catherine stole the show when they came out in those matching yellow dresses, it was a moment intended to humanize ted cruz and the girls were cute, they talked about taylor swift wanting to be their first guest at the white house if they make it that far. here is a little bit of the girls' interaction here. >> i remember very well that she -- she had a princess sleepover party and she had 11 of her classmates come over and their favorite game at the sleepover party was attack the daddy. and i will tell you having 11 six-year-old gir

. >> national correspondent peter alexander in our washington bureau. good morning to you. let's recap trump's week. we talked a little bit about it with chris. you had him backing away from the pledge to support the gop nominee, then the campaign manager gettest arrested, the abortion comments on msnbc. he said this rnc meeting was about unity, right? >> that's what he says. this meeting is in the can for about a wiig. it came as a surprise to most of us. donald trump appearing to regain his footing, meeting first with his foreign policy advisers in d.c. and then the private meeting with the heads of the rnc, that includes the chairman, reince priebus. trump said this was effectively a unity meeting, but it's obvious that there was some clearing of the air to do between these sides, as well. especially after donald trump has, well, denounced the party's big donors. he, like others last week, seemed to back away from the pledge to support the party's eventual nominee. he said frankly he's been treated unfairly by the gop. so as much as he was saying there's unity, there's s
