a rockland county man is free on bond this morning. it is the latest fallout from a federal probe into the nypd. >> reporter: alex lichtenstein left federal court after facing a judge of charges for bribery and corruption. he is accused of paying out bribes to nypd cops to issue gun permits without proper background checks. the licenses then were allegedly sold for $18,000 apiece to people who might not on a tape recorded conversation lichtenstein reportedly bragged he used his nypd connections to obtain 150 permits. at $6000 apiece, it is believed he paid out $900,000 in bribes. on the recorded conversation, lichtenstein reportedly said, i want to repeat myself i'm not bribing you. the officers respond of course you are bribing me. let's be frank and honest here. >> no one answered the door at the lichtenstein home. neighbors said they saw several officers there over the weekend. in court the federal prosecutor said agents confiscated two guns from the home. lichtenstein had licenses for both. there are other people who could be invol

police in rockland county are investigating a rash of break-ins targeting cars in local parks and gyms. at least five cars were broken into last sunday in nanuet. investigators think break-ins there might be linked to a national crime syndicate. the felony lane gang, as it's known, are famous for breaking into cars and stealing cash, credit cards and ids left inside. authorities say the gang is made up of 800 members who travel across the country. suspects caught on camera in texas, pennsylvania, massachusetts. according to retired fbi agent louis greber, they take from almost anywhere. >> they are seizure urveilln shopping centers. they go after cars that may be there for a few hours. >> a woman said she was at her ocean city home when they struck. >> i felt very violated. they took my social security, my daughter's social security, debit cards, credit cards. >> after using the cash and the credit cards, investigators say the suspects used the identification to drain the victims' bank accounts, disguising themselves to look like the victims and charging their accounts for thousands. t
