jacob soboroff is in los angeles with a look at the delegate map and whether sanders can indeed find a path to denying clinton a pledged delegate victory. what have you found? >> indeed he can, but it will be a tight victory if he is able to pull it off. you can't really frankly have a conversation about whether or not bernie sanders can win without asking the question, what are super delegates. bernie sanders answer to that question today would be something i don't want you to focus all that much on. and the reason is, they make up a huge chunk, a 500-delegate portion of the 770 delegate lead that hillary clinton currently holds over bernie sanders. how is this going to play in california and across the country on june 7th? i did a little digging and this is what i found. >> you've been hearing for a while now that things aren't looking good for bernie sanders to win the democratic nomination for president. >> you think he's still got a chance? >> no, i don't. >> so what gives? why on the eve of one of the last presidential nominating contest system the race still going if it's out

msnbc's jacob soboroff went to one of ohio's famous truck stops for a look at how the clinton/trump race is shaping up there. >> i'm at the truck world stop in hubbard, ohio. very few roads are as important to the presidential election than this one because it runs through the swing states of ohio and pennsylvania and nobody knows this area better than these truckers. have you thought about who you'll vote for yet? >> i don't know. i don't trust either one right now. >> that's donald trump and hillary clinton? >> yes. >> is it possible for hillary clinton to win over your vote? >> yes. >> and trump? >> yes. he has a lot to prove between now and then. >> what are you doing here at truck world? >> well, i have to do something. everybody has to be somewhere. >> so what do you think is going to happen? have you figured out where you'll go in the general election? >> yeah, i think trump is the lesser of two evils. >> you come with me for one second. what does the next president need to do to win over the voters of the i-80 corridor here through ohio? >> i think he's got to convince the voters

our jacob soboroff is jake walking in south l.a. getting reaction from folks in the majority latino and african-american community of watts. what are folks telling you there? >> reporter: nobody is suggesting that california is necessarily in contention for donald trump, but if you look at this recent polling showing neck-in-neck contests in the swing states of ohio and florida and pennsylvania, it is latino and african-american voters that could make all the difference. here donald trump says hispanics love me but we wanted to do a little bit of a reality check out here. if you come with me in watts, which has a storied history of involvement in this city, we talked to workers here at local, which is a restaurant, here is what the people here at local had to say. >> why is donald trump having so much trouble convincing people who are not white to support him? >> because of the stuff he's saying. >> and he's not on our side. trump is trying to take us through trials and tribulations. >> and why do you say that? what makes you think

msnbc's jacob soboroff is live at ohio state university in columbus and spoke to some of those younger voters supporting trump. jacob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jose. you know that poll you mentioned is very interesting because a year ago, that poll only had a 15% difference between republicans and democrats. now, as you said, it's a 36-point difference, something that's very worrying for the republican party. the question is, is it because of the donald trump campaign? young people are largely progressive and maybe moving away from the republican party because of donald trump. but that does not stop a small group called students for trump, which is unaffiliated with the campaign, from advocating on behalf of the businessman. i came here to the crucial swing state of ohio to meet some of them. if you look at the numbers, young people are identifying with democrats more than republicans, something that is probably troubling for the gop, but don't believe the numbers if you listen to students for trump. >> obvioly when you think of college right now in terms of the electio

and on that note, we have jacob soboroff live from los angeles to talk about what it takes to go into a political event. jacob, you were on an advanced team. tell us what it's like. >> reporter: i sure was, katy. i miss you guys back in new york, but i also miss very much regular food, which is why i've been spending a lot of time in grand central market here in downtown los angeles, picking up all kinds of goodies. my wife and soon were on the road with us in the last leg. our fridge was empty when we got back. we've been down here a lot. as a former advance man, one of the political aides that goes out and sets up the events. i worked for mayor bloomberg and he gave one of the best lessons i've ever heard. he said in a little bit more of a profane way, but he said to me, jake, don't screw it up. and that's the key to these things. you heard donald trump going after whoever set up that faulty microphone. and one of the things i wanted to do, because i sympathize with the people you spent so much time with more than i do at these campaign events, to show what goes into these events. w
