vic lee, abc 7 news. >> our team coverage continues with abc 7 news reporter chris nguyen live at the regional medical center of san jose. chris? >> reporter: dan, one officer remains in critical condition, the second officer stable. he is conscious and able to talk. if you take a look behind me, you can see some of the police cars that have been out here in front of the hospital throughout the afternoon. that has been the common scene. he w as we take a look at video show, police officers from multiple agencies have been stopping by to had show their support for he fremont police department. we've so some of the officers may have been involved in the standoff overnight. now, about an hour ago, police released new details about the standoff on roberts avenue that led to the suspect's death. we learned gerald vilabrila shot out a lock on a random house to get inside. fortunately nobody was home. once inside, police tried to get the suspect to speak to them. he refused so they fired tear gas into the home. the suspect then called 911 and initially told police he had a hostage. however,

for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. >> abc news obtained new documents raising new questions about the young man's previous behavior. here's abc's matt gutman. >> reporter: documents and pictures obtained by abc news painting a starkly different portrait of brock turner, than the one he sketched out in court. in his sentencing for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman on campus, the 20-year-old olympic track swimmer wrote to the judge, "coming from a small town in ohio, i never really experienced celebrating or partying that involved alcohol." the documents also say turner denied ever using any illicit substance. wrong, say prosecutors. there's turner smoking a hash pipe before college, they say. in dozens of texts, he talks about buying or using drugs, including harder drugs. want to see if we can get acid? and now the judge who sentenced turner to six months in jail is under attack. >> they are threatening and using a lot of profanity. they hope he dies and his kids get raped. >> reporter: turner's assault so jarring that the grad students who put a stop to it are still
