the man -- trying to swim across lake michigan and back-- ends his mission short. scott wolford should have been about half way to a unassisted marathon swimming record, but instead he was on the beach near his indiana home. the swim began at five a-m friday off navy pier in chicago. the goal was to swim to saint joseph's michigan and back.... about 120 miles. the swim was expected to take 60 thunderstorms caused major concerns and the swim had to be canceled.
