this wednesday.., i'm brian loftus. a man is dead after an electrical fire this morning at a home near eastern and bonanza. that's where 8 news now reporter is live with the latest. karen? ((karen castro)) >> las vegas fire and rescue says the fire was small but it caused a man his life. it living area behind this home. take a look at this video we shot from a neighbor's backyard. firefighters were seen taking out items of what they describe as some type of storage room that was transformed into a small studio apartment. investigators say the room was cluttered and had extension cords as a power supply. in fact, that's what they believe caused the fire in the first place. there were no fire alarms inside the home, they found an unresponsive man under a mattress. he was taken to umc with burns to 50-percent of his body. the man died at the hospital. there were other residents inside the home but they were not injured.
