we're talkin storm newton. and that's where tropical storm newton is still located, south of our state. and it's racing to arizona. and as i mentioned earlier. it looks to track in around 11:00 this morning. it could still be a weak tropical storm as it moves in before weakening to an area of low pressure or the remnants of tropical storm newton. notice the main track takes it through southeast arizona, southeast of the valley. tropical system moves in will be through southeast arizona. there are wind advisories posted for tucson and areas to the south as that's where the storm will enter the state. and the biggest rain concerns, the flash flooding concerns will be across the southeastern pocket of our state. the flash flood watches in effect through 8:00 this evening. the immediate phoenix metro is no longer under the watch. but the higher terrain to the east, the areas in pa knell county under the flash flood watch. in the phoenix metro, not to say we won't get pockets of heavier rainfall. but the threat is a

before newton gets here. newton is a category one hurricane right now. by the time it gets here, it will be a tropical storm or low pressure system with winds anywhere from 20-40 miles an hour. it is going to bring moisture along with it. you can see moisture coming in to the southeastern and the so that is the track that newton is going to take. it is going to take a little bit to get him up but that moisture is in place with 75 miles an hour winds right now. we open the door and take a look at newton on the move and put it into motion. it stays a category one for quite a while. tuesday at 11:00 p.m., 75-mile hour and newton is south of phoenix at that time. look at the moisture and how quickly it comes through. most of the moisture finding its way through the southern part of the state and the eastern portion of the state. there we are wednesday at 11:00 p.m. with winds at 25 miles an hour. of course, with all of that, we do have watches out there for flooding both across the central portion of the state an

this is newton down here. this is the track newton will take late tuesday into wednesday. we are going to start seeing the moisture from newton. this is the futurecast right here. we put i and you can see some pretty good storms getting in here tuesday evening. right there in phoenix, look at this mess right in here. this is wednesday, just before noon. but look at all of the moisture down south here. look at that red. that's really heavy rain right there, and as it comes rolling up, look at that. until 7:40 on wednesday, and then we let it go again, and you will see more moisture forming around the state into thursday late in the day. certainly in play. now, as we get a look at the temperature high on the day today, 103 degrees, 100 at goodyear, another 100 in scottsdale with 99 out at gateway. 82 degrees at show low. we had 83 degrees in prescott, 88 in sedona, with 73 at flagstaff, 104 at gila bend, and look at that, 98 degrees today in yuma. so temperatures are coming down a little bit. but look at this overnight low, 75 degrees. 103 and 80 would be your normal high an

here's the latest path on newton. right now a category 1 storm, and it will be making land fall tonight. going into tomorrow morning moving into southeast arizona, by tomorrow evening just a remnant low, but we could possibly see it as tropical storm strength as it starts to go across the state line into southeast arizona tomorrow, so we'll continue to watch this. the biggest threat is flash flooding, and a flash flood central and southern arizona through 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. it kicks in at 6:00 tonight, so watch out for that, and across southeast arizona is where the biggest impacts will be felt. tomorrow if you have travel plans south of the valley down to tucson, make sure the wiper blades are new and fresh. allow yourself extra time, and properly inflate the tires, and don't try to drive through flooded roadways ever. we'll talk more about the forecast and how much rain we could see in >>> a family nightmare on lake pleasant, residents flying in to search for a missing boater. the man disappeared sunday afternoon,

we will see newton work its way into the state. look at the moisture it is purring up in the front and you can see the moisture heads off to the east. a little bit shoots up to the valley but a lot of it is taking off to the east and staying in the southern portion of the state as well as it hangs around for a day or so. let's look at the futurecast and see what is happening. here is phoenix right here. we put it into mtion and you see here about 6:45 in the morning, you can see that moisture being pushed up in front of newton. here we sit. a lot of that moisture comes around and hangs in the area but most of it heads off to the east or stays south of us. you look at the rest of the not a lot of moisture finding its way in here. in fact, they have taken this area out of the watch area at the present time with the flash-flood watches. we're seeing a lot of this stuff staying south or going off to the east. we had 101 degrees for the high today. one thing the moisture is doing and the cloud cover, bringing the temps down a little bit

two words, hurricane newton. amber sullins has updates on the path, and newton is already causing problems. >> yeah it is, newton slamming resorts along the peninsula, making land fall as a category 1 storm. two people killed, another three missing as newton pelts the area near cabo with heavy rain, knocking down trees and knocking out power. tourists huddled in hotels tonight, and right now it's bringing the moisture and rain into southeast arizona, and there is a chance that this storm could move into east storm strength before it weakens into a tropical depression. if that happen it's going to be the sixth time on recorded history of arizona to ever see a tropical storm move into our state. we tap into a lot of that moisture down there, but as far as the tropical storm actually coming in, the last time it happened was 1997 with tropical storm nora that brought record breaking rain to the yuma area. tonight the flash flood watch for phoenix has been canceled, but areas to the east and southeast arizona still un

will newton impact us? >> the main storm system is just south of our state. but it is going to move into southern arizona and likely have its biggest impact on nogales and tucson and eventually stafford. just because the tropical storm is not directly moving into phoenix doesn't mean we're not going to feel the impacts. bands that we'll feel through the morning hours here in the valley with storm chances continuing through the day. here's what i'm seeing. we have rain in the northeast valley. and this is the live view of mcdowell. the loop 101 getting the showers this morning. and there's the pocket of heavier rainfall. not a lot of lightning but the scattered showers across the valley. in scottsdale, and also over guadalupe. and a few near sun city. and more pop-u s good year all the way to buckeye, and much more rain to the south. as you're getting ready to head out the door, the scattered showers will be a possibility through the morning. and we have a slight chance of storms this afternoon. but overall, the main impact and the main track of the storm will
