south carolina, is at the scene of a reported shooting at an elementary school in townville, south carolina. which is in anderson county. >> michelle: here's what we know. cnn is reporting at least two children have been shot and one teacher. early reports indicate that this is a lone suspect. that suspect we're told is in custody. we're getting word that at least one child was resuscitated and had to be helicopter to a nearby hospital in that area. armed officers were called to the school. this happened around 2:00 eastern time. the school is on lockdown right now. and, again, we don't know much about the shooter. we don't know if the shooter is another student or an outsideer. that information not released. but would do know they believe that person is in custody. this is a developing story and we're going to bring you more information as soon as we get i'm jeff maher in for krystal allan joined by michelle velez. the man accused of shooting and killing a man at a local starbucks appears in court today. >> michelle: news 3's craig fiegener has been following this story from the beginning.

there's the center crossing from georgia into south carolina. the rain stretches a very long distance from the center of the storm. you see it stretching up the mid-atlantic states here approaching our area. but it is still sitting south of us. as far as the rain from the center of this storm, it stretches about 400 miles from the center. again, we'll start to see it move into parts of the area as early as tomorrow. we'll be tracking the timing very closely for you. as far as the rainfall rates, closer to the center is some of the heaviest rain. almost 1 1/2 inches of rain per hour. we're going to watch for this heavy rain as it gets closer. closer to the center of the storm as well we actually do have some buoy data here, just offshore of georgia and south carolina. winds gusting close to 60 miles an hour. and as it gets closer, there you see it, wave heights around 10 feet. take a look at the current wind gusts over land. now, this is not from our buoy data, this is from our land observation. buford in south carolina, close to 50 mile an hour

this will accelerate, past south carolina. in fact, this evening at 8:00, with 50-mile-an-hour winds, it will be just past charleston, south carolina. then it accelerates and approaches the outer banks of north carolina. 12 hours later, by saturday morning, and it continues offshore. but then something happens. it slows down. the acceleration comes to a halt, and sunday morning, monday morning, tuesday morning, wednesday morning, this storm is lingering offshore. now, it's far offshore, but we will still be feeling the effects along coastal new jersey and delaware, and possibly inland, as well. the impacts from the storm over the holiday weekend, tropical storm watch in effect for delaware and south jersey. we could see wind gusts at 50 miles an hour, possibly higher. most likely sunday afternoon. the ocean, as a result, dangerous rip currents through the holiday weekend, and for boaters, very rough seas. and there's going to be flood possibilities, as well. coastal new jersey and delaware could see minor to moderate flooding.

in south carolina it's been all about the rain and stronger winds at the coast this evening. the good news here, at least for south carolina, it's moving so fast, it will be gone by late tonight. in florida it came ashore. the first hurricane, almost 11 years in florida making rainfall. brought a lot of heavy rain and cedar key, well north of tampa, one homeless man was killed when a tree fell on him there. heavy rain in the tampa area creating flash flooding on the streets there. some parts of florida left with nearly a foot of rainfall from the storm. we'll have more on the local impact with pam gardner tonight. >> our impact is going to be a little different compared to florida we are not anticipating the coastal flood concerns they have had to deal with, and not necessarily the widespread flooding risk either. but heavy rain, definitely the potential is there but rough seas and beach erosion will be the main threat as the storm impacts us sunday into monday. hour from boston to worcester. this gets more serious south and east, 45 to 55-mile-an-hour gusts in the outer cape

today, we're expected to get an south carolina boy, who was shot at school ,is doing. this after a teenaged gunman is accused of shooting his father, then going to a south carolina elementary school the shooter's grandparents are revealing details about the hours leading up to the shooting... the suspect's grandmother says the teen called her, distraught. the grandparents rushed over to the suspect's house and found the teen's father, jeffrey osborne shot to death. the grandmother got that call around 1-45 wednesday afternoon. investigators say about a minute later a teacher at townville elementary called 9-1-1 to report the shooting. 3 victims were shot. the district outcome could've been worse. one boy who was shot is in critical condition. a teacher and another student were treated and released from the hospital. the shooter was taken into custody. right now, no word on a motive. the shooting at an elementary school in south carolina will undoubtedly restart the control. it comes up every time something like this happens. which is why 9 wants to know investigator ch
