angelica joins us from the newsroom with the details. when the storm made landfall overnight -- hermine was the first hurricane to hit florida in more than a decade. the storm was originally packing about 80 mile per hour winds...but the maximum wind speeds are now down closer to 70 miles per hour. and it is weakening. but the storm also bringing some heavy rain and flooding. and there is still potential fo flooding. after pushing into georgia -- hermine is expected to move into the carolinas and up the east coast. kim and jessob. back to you. one person was rescued from an apartment fire in whitefish bay. north shore fire crews were called out to the scene near henry clay and diversey early this morning. the person rescued was evaluated by paramedics on scene...but their condition is not known at this time. no word yet on what caused the blaze. 24 homicides in august -- it's in 25 years. that's back when police discovered the bodies of jeffery dahmer's victims in july of 19-91. police chief ed flynn held a special news conference on the

angelica joins us from the newsroom with more. milwaukee county sheriff david clarke could be held in contempt of court if he disobeys a judge's orders today. this is due to the dispute over the temporary fencing at sherman park. sunday a judge issued a temporary restraining order against the sheriff-- ordering him to take it down. the park had been closing early after two days of unrest. the county disagreed. judge hansher will determine what comes next today. meanwhile-- the mayor is preparing to present his proposed budget to the common council later this month. but he says it could upset a lot of people. after an intense august for milwaukee -- mayor tom barrett says public safety will be the largest part of his proposed budget. a public safety plan released by the common council calls for 280 new officers. but community groups say new funding should go elsewhere. the mayor says he's going to try and cover both aspects. in court today-- opening statements in the trial of a milwaukee man accused of setting a fire that killed tw

he joins us from the newsroom with the latest. things got chaotic, especially a couple hours ago, marc. the governor of north carolina declared a state of emergency tonight following the two nights of protests on the streets. we're keeping a look at the live feed in north carolina. the officers are trying to push the crowd back. the crowd has thinned out but there are a few hundred people out there from what we're being told. they are showing a line of officers out there keeping people at bay trying to keep them away after the erupted outside of the omni hotel. a few feet away, a man was laying on the ground and he appeared to be shot in the head. that man was rushed to the hospital. initial words, he passed away but a clarification from the city of charlotte is that man is on life support apparently, shot by a protesters, not shot by a police officer. this violence began to erupt scott. according to police, they were serving a search warrant when they approached scott because he matched the description of a suspect they were look
