the mercury quarantine situation here at walter johnson junior high is on its 15th hour. cars are packed in all around the school and hundreds of children to be released. information has been slowly released and this is what we know so far. 8 students and a few faculty members including the principle were exposed to a small amount of mercury, the amount found in an old thermometer. the school quickly followed protocol, fire crews, ccsd police, hazmat and the epa were called out and that's when the school went on lockdown. hazmat crews are screening room after room and student after student. capt. young with ccsd police gave us the very latest information a short time ago. session at walter johnson jr. high today kids were back in class six days after mercury was found on the school's campus. the clark county school district says since then, crews have decontaminated the school. but e-p-a officials are still looking for traces of mercury at at least one home. fox5's eric hilt joins us now near durango and alta, with what this family now has to do. right now crews are going through this house, ripping up carpet, finding things that are contaminated with mercury and then throwing them in this red bin you see there -- everything that is contaminated will be destroyed. this is the only home where the epa found high similar to what they found in the school - 10 to 15 times higher than what's considered safe. epa officials told me they think the contamination came from johnson middle school "we believe that mercury got on some of the child's and it got transferred to the home that way" many of the parents told me they are confident the school is safe and they are happy their kid is back i

. >> krystal: walter johnson middle school closed again today as the e.p.a. continuing its investigation. parents of students a that room packed last night at jacobson elementary school where a meeting was taking place. they had police, e.p.a. officials there trying to answer a lot of these questions. boy it got a lot of heated. people started yelling and screaming at leaders for not giving them detailed information. officials ignored specific forth. the meeting changed to an open format. by that point parents were so outraged the people answering the questions had a tough time giving the information out. >> nobody from the school board spoke. you had a police officer speaking saying i can't answer that, what is the purpose of this meeting. if you can't answer the questions, why are you speaking? >> a lot of unanswered questions even this when the meeting was closing a representative from the e.p.a. said parents can bring student clothes in a garbage bag and they can retest them. parents still a little bit upset and concerned over possible health concerns ass
