nbc bay area''s damian trujillo is live at police herds. >> reporter: janelle, police agencies across the bay area say there are no active credible threats of violence with either pro or antitrump factions. but they say they are being vigilant in the wake of all the campaign rhetoric. the violence at trump rallies has been well-documented, with donald trump sometimes leading the charge. >> get him outta here! >> reporter: the entire campaign season has been marred by threats of violence. it even played out in san jose in june after trump supporters and opponents faced off outside the convention center. >> i think a lot of people in the aftermath of that said, how could you whiff on that, how could you not anticipate something like that might happen? >> reporter: during a wednesday news conference, the president of the board of supervisors said this time the south bay will be ready. no extra sheriff patrols have been ordered on or before election night, but because of the national rhetoric, south bay leaders say they are prepared. >> if we anticipate the likelihood of escalation betwee

i'm damian trujillo, nbc bay area news. >>> they left us once before in the 1980s and the raiders might be doing it again. the team has taken another step closer to las vegas. nevada's legislature approved a plan that would use $750 million in public money to build an nfl stadium right there off the las vegas strip. the measure would raise hotel taxes in las vegas to help fund the project. nevada's governor expected to sign off on the plan on monday. but that won't make it a done deal. nfl owners must still approve the team's move. today raiders' owner mark davis issued a statement that read, in part, the project will provide a proud new home for the entire raider nation. we'll likely hear more about the team in oakland as the mayor, libby shaf, during her state of the city address tonight in a half hour. she is also expected to address the sex abuse scandal involving oakland police. >>> back to our stormy weather now and one of the biggest trouble spots last year, pacifica. nbc bay area's scott budman is there live, checking out the high surf and high winds. scott, any new damage? >> r

nbc bay area ace damian trujillo is live with more. >> reporter: there's nothing significant in the santa cruz mountains, light drizzle but nothing significant. folks here are preparing for inches of rain and lots of potential problems. this is where storms usually hit the hardest in the south bay. >> this is an area that gets a lot of prescription. we'll get 10 inches when someone else gets 2 inches. >> reporter: this is where the locals come to get their sandbags during the winter storms. >> we've always been the go-to place for the valley here, the areas around here, for people to come and prepare with sandbags, because a lot of people have that issue around their properties. >> reporter: on the way here crews were busy responding to accident after accident on highway 17. the light drizzle throughout parts of the day forced the closure of portions of the highway. so first responders could clear the accident scene. >> it's been pretty busy. we've been running a little bit busier starting from last night when the rain started coming in. >> reporter: the fire captain, sam gonzalez, says d

live in san jose, i'm damian trujillo, nbc bay area news. >> it has become an issue in this election season. thank you. >>> intimidating voters is a felony here in california. our investigative unit reviewed the california elections code. that code says anyone caught using force or making threats against the voter is guilty of a felony and could spend up to three years in prison. the law also prohibits soliciting for votes or asking people whether they're qualified to vote within 100 feet of a polling place. taking photos or videos of voters going into or leaving the polling place is also illegal if the intent is to intimidate them. >>> a neighbor jumped into action to help save someone from their burning home in south san jose. it happened on en selmo avenue last night. investigators believe the fire began in the garage and quickly spread to the rest of the house. three of the four people inside made it out quickly. a neighbor helped the last person escape. no word yet on the cause of this fire. >>> okay. our meteorologist, rob mayeda is with us as we head toward the weekend. >> wel

i'm damian trujillo, nbc bay area news. >>> the bay area is drying out after the biggest drought of the season. most people are now drenched. let's start with meteorologist rob mayetta. that was a heavy rainfall that pelted the fire. is the rain over? >> we had rainfall totals, uvas canyon, almost a foot of rain. you can see berkeley and the tri-valley, 3 and a half inches plus rainfall. three inches of rain around ben loman. that is almost equal to 20% of the average for the year. a tremendous amount of rain in the santa cruz mountains. you can see the numbers in yellow showing you how many of the places in the bay area eclipse that total from a three-day span from friday to sunday. as you can see here, a few scattered showers conquered that around bay point, moving to the east in and around the north bay. a few isolated showers today. snow finally coming down in the sierras. the surf up to about 14 feet, so we still have that coastal flood advisory for high tide coming up at 12:44 in the afternoon. could see some localized flooding there on the coast. but coming up after today, a big

damian trujillo gives us a closer look at the family. >> reporter: this is where you'll often find them. the services immigrant rights and education network or siren is the vehicle in making the lives of others better. she says she only tries to return what this city has given her and her family. it was in 1999 that she met a man named martin. they were both taking english classes together in san jose. together the family is raising two children, leo is a senior geraldo is a freshman at the leadership academy. both are active with siren's youth group. >> i do volunteer work always for my school. i like helping others. i am helping giving back to my community. >> reporter: but every day there is a fear. his parents are both undocumented, and he worries they might be deported one day while he's at school. >> you hope that's not the last time. >> yeah. >> does it hurt a little bit? >> yeah. >> why is that? >> because she's everything to me. i don't want to see her go away. >> reporter: it's a fear the parents live with every day. it's been nine years since she saw her mother. she's afraid
