fox6s angelica sanchez joins us live from the newsroom with more -- angelica. 41-thousand fewer voters showed up to the polls on tuesday. the data provided by the election commission shows it was some of milwaukee's most impoverished wards that saw the most drastic plunge in voter turn out. the reason why depends on who you ask. it's been three days since tuesday's historic race for the white house and thousands of milwaukeeans skipped out on election day. we were surprised by the decrease executive director neil albrecht says about 41-thousand fewer voters participated in the 2016 election--- a drastic drop from 2012. he says there are a number of factors that impact whether a person votes. he believes one of those was the new voter id requirement. the wards with the highest drop in participation have a higher with a 31-percent decrease. "where we saw the greatest decline in voter participation were the same areas of the city where we feared the photo id requirement and some of the other changes to election law... would have the greatest impact." but governor scott walker disputes vot

angelica joins us from the newsroom with the latest. the state has filed an emergency appeal with a higher court-- the 7th circuit of appeals in chicago-- arguing he should stay in prison until his case is resolved in court. dassey's conviction for his role in the rape and murder or teresa halbach was tossed in appealed. state prosecutors argue the lower court did not have the authority to order dassey's release and by doing so would cause irreparably harm to the case. dassey's attorney argue the state has not made a case to keep him locked up. his family hopes he'll be out by friday. it's one step closer, and one step back. the state is got their do their thing and they dassey must be released no later than 8 p-m on friday unless the 7th circuit of appeals rules otherwise. the appeals court has been asked to make a decision before the deadline. you can read the judge's order on our website fox6 now dot com. the story's on our home page. you can also search "avery archive" to check out developments in this story going back as far as 200
