these appear to be the same flyers discovered at a bart station. now they are showing up in walnut creek. kron 4's charles clifford spoke to neighbors. this past weekend, these flyers appeared on cars parked at a condo complex along oak road in walnut creek. they are colorful, professional looking and covered with utter nonsense. but within the gibberish are a few words that might be considered anti-semitic. residents who found them were mostly just puzzled. sot i thought it was some deranged guy doing it. it made no sense. if the leaflets look familiar it could be because a few weeks ago the exact same flyers appeared on cars parked at the lafayette bart station. in that case, bart says that the man who was leaving them may have also threatened someone. bart police identified a suspect but in the end the district attorney declined to press charges siting a lack of evidence. on monday, kron 4 contacted walnut creek police who said they were aware of these new flyers. they also claim to know who is responsible. they say the man who made them suffers

bart said this is cautionary a week before the election there is a bart measure on the ballot. they had to shut down montgomery county station before midnight because of an explosion on the third rail. smoke was billowing over a train that passed over. the train was damaging. it was confusing for passengers. [ inaudible ] we wondered what was happen, and there was smoke. we got out. >> bart pet put out the fire. the fire department checked out the situation. the train was taken out of service because it was damaged. the track has been repaired. bart said problems like this will continue to plague the 44-year-old system in repairs are -- not made. they need the $3.5 billion bond going toward upgrades but credits say it is rewarding a system that needs to be head accountable. it will be on the ballot in san francisco, alameda and contra costa county.
